Windows 8 monitor issues

Hi.

I got Windows 8 today, and it's been running great as it has built in triple monitor support - so it was up and running with triple screens before I'd even installed nvidia drivers...

So everything's fine...

Until I try and game in triple screens.

The windows interface sets the screens to work at 1920x1080 each, with extended desktop, rather than recognise it as one display at 5760x1080.
This works very well in actual use as maximising programs will maximise to that screen, getting metro (or whatever it's not called up) all goes on 1 screen etc... so it is really nice to work with...

However, then I try to game...

It refuses to recognise a resolution of 5760x1080 in games unless I put in the custom resolution with nvidia surround. But, in doing that, programs will mess up and so maximising one program will maximise across all 3 screens, as will 'metro' which is just ridiculous.

I doubt anyone will have any thoughts of how to fix this - other than switch resolutions to play games - but that really takes way too long each time...
But anyway - any ideas anyone?

Also probably a warning to anyone with triple screens hoping to buy windows 8...

A mate of mine is using triple screens on windows 8 and has been for quite some time although he is using 2x7970's for his but I shall ask him today of any issues and get back to you,but as far as I know he has had none.

Unfortunately my mate was unable to give any advice as he won't use Nvidia for triple displays he says for single screen and phys x Nvidia but for multiple screens Amd is the only way to go, Sorry I couldn't be of better help to you both I hope someone else has some advice to help.

I find nvidia far better for multi screens actually.

AMD requires active display port adapters whereas nvidia can just plug displays straight in.

Thanks for trying though - I'll just have to live with switching the resolution everytime I game.
Maybe nvidia/windows will release an update sometime soon.

lol.

When I was on windows 7, I have a mate running a similar 3 screen set up - him with AMD, me with nvidia.

Nvidia allowed me to set the resolution to 5760x1080, and when programs were maximised, they just filled that one screen. But when he did it, he experienced the same issues as I'm having now, plus a lot lot more in gaming.

The issues I'm having are just down to the fact that Microsoft added support for triple monitors - but ignored the fact that gaming with triple monitors requires a larger resolution.

At least with nvidia I didn't have to spend £85 on an active display port adapter and it could just run out the box.

I do have some spare cards I could test with on windows 8 actually, if people are interested. I have a 7950 and 6970 to hand if people thinking of upgrading are wanting to know how their triple screens will run.
