Windows 7 service pack 1

A while back when Windows 7 service pack 1 was released i did have a few issues with it, the main one being a BSOD now and again. I then uninstalled it and everything was ok again. Its been a while now since i removed it but recenlty i saw it in the list of updates for windows 7.

i just want to know if you guys have installed it, did you have issues with it, was it working fine or if you still havent installed it?

ive got it and its fine i did however have to removed my CMOS batt at one point due to loads of BSODS

I had trouble with mine and it turned out to be a problem with Catalyst Control Center, I don't install CCC anymore and no problems.

Have 4 rigs with w7 sp1 installed,had no problems at all.

havent put it on yet as I heard of issue but that was some time ago might give it a go and see whats up. Hell if it backfires I can always use a good excuse to re-install

It's been found in some cases that a re-installation of some drivers is required after the install of sp1.

If you're doing a fresh build, it'd be good practice to install Win7, add the service pack, then apply the drivers you require.

Many bsods will be due to drivers acting up post install of sp1.

Best way to do it would be to slipstream SP1 into a ISO of your Windows 7 disk and put it on a USB to install from so it's installed as part of a fresh install.

I used this GUIDE to do it recently.

Going to be installing a SSD soon so to slipstream SP1 into windows 7 for the fresh install will be ideal.

sweet thats for this Sieb nice all in one app they use as well. I recently had to do this for XP pro for my lil ones rig. As I was getting bsod's when trying to reinstall on her new rig. Had to search for eon's for the right nero burning rom so I could burn the iso lol.

question though how does one determine if their copy of Win7 is retail or oem??? Is OEM the one that comes in the paper sleeve and retail a plastic dvd movie style packaging????

OEM is one that doesn't come in original packing where you just get the disk.

I think it says OEM in Control Panel > system & security> System in the product code or some where on that page if it is a OEM copy.

yeah under the windows activation at the bottom it has OEM in the product key

and i also found it on the dvd case

well after checking the price for a retail copy lol I guess I wont be doing the slipstream of sp1 or drivers into a usb flash drive but can I still use this OEM to make a bootable usb without the sp1????

Yeah, you can still make a bootable USB.

lol looks like you got hit with the lag spike as well been getting them alot of late but I learned to wait it out so I dont double post
