I spent 189. for 64 bit vista ut one month ago. now in a year i need spend how much more for 7 ulti 150? i see newegg is now giving free Windows 7 upgrade coupon. i have been using ubuntu 2.2 ut 64 bit and really starting to like it. and its free

just wanted to add to my post that i have been using 7 and like it, started with beta and now rc and i will buy it when it hits the market. it just seems like vista was a beta of 7 and we should get a better upgrade price

For the benefit of luckybob69 and others;
I saw the advertised pre order price on the Microshaft site and thought I might grab a bit of that, as it's much faster than Vista. Reading on it states that a FREE UPGRADE will be available for Vista purchasers when the retail Win 7 is officially released.
There were a lot of questions about if this would happen a while ago and Microshaft denied it. If the latest info is true then it is good news for a lot of us that bought Vista. If you bought Vista Premium you get an update to Win 7 premium, if you bought Vista Ultra your upgrade is Win7 Ultra.
Seeing as Win 7 is supposed to be what Vista was meant to be on release, but failed, I think that is very fair to us consumers, and very surprising from Microshaft!

Got a retail 32/64 bit Vista Ultimate package here, cost a heck of a lot a while back, be pretty good if there was a trade-in of sorts.
Not really sure about the quickness of 7 over Vista, it may well be the case that we haven't seen it at it's best (as they kept saying about Vista tbh) but the few artificial benches I seen weren't great in comparison, gaming wasn't as good.
Will they keep saying it'll get better - or will it really ? Will it budge people from XP ?

I think the free upgrade offer is only good if bought on or after 26th june

I think the quoted part refers to the online Pre Release you can buy from the 26th June, ie, half price if you pay for it in advance of when it is first OFFICIALLY released in October this year?
How much is $99 for Premium anyway? About 70 quid?
Looking at the differences in spec between prem and ultra, unless you really need bit locker and it in 26 versions of Urdu, I really can't see anyone paying double the price for ultra?

i too am un sure if ultra will be worth the extra bing. it looks like ultra adds more sharing fetures as well as the bitlocker. i am sure everyone has seen this but here is a link to 7 ms store has a little more info. i cant post the link yet but it is at ms store

Funny I seen a Win 7 upgrade link on a site taking bookings for Snow Leopard. Coulda been Newegg or Amazon.
