Windows 10's growth with PC gamers has been halted

I'm still quite contented with W7. Little from W10 is worth upgrading to. I'm not playing any DX12 games, won't be for a while (plus they're broken in places), and W7 just works all the time. There are a couple of neat features I'm missing out on, and I like the look of W10, but it's not worth the hassle when I have something that works and does what I need it to do. When I build my new machine next year I'll pick up a retail version of W10. Hopefully it'll be fully functional then.

I did yesterday, trying to get to the bottom of the MTP driver failure problem. I decided to install the Anni update only to be faced with yet another issue! Not only did it still not recognise any USB mass storage devices (Android, iOS or WM10) my D: drive had completely vanished too! So I've reverted back to the 1511 build and I'll wait for M$ to fix it.

I've tried everything to get this fixed, from Media Feature pack updates (all three versions), uninstalling USB drivers and rebooting, Trying new cables on every USB port I have, editing the registry, changing the USB power states and I've even gone as far as enabling legacy support and installing chipset drivers for the phones and still nothing! I give up!

Hmm. I wonder if it's more due to manufacturers not getting drivers more up to date for the Anni Update rather than Windows itself. I'm not saying MS isn't to blame, but maybe not for everything. Rather unfortunate tbh. I wish companies would get the updates sooner to test and prepare new drivers for them when it releases.

Still haven't had any issues from Windows, even with many things permanently turned off.

It's effectively a service pack, it shouldn't be breaking existing compatibility, it should be adding more.. I don't get how they're putting it into minimum requirements for stuff when it's so clearly broken

Guess I am one of the few with no problems. At least for my gaming PC anyways.

My work one is still on W7 enterprise. With a W10 dual boot. But that one doesnt get updated unless its a security patch so... Media PCs etc dont get updated either.

I have updates delayed so probably why I have no issues - running W10Pro Version 1511 Hopefully Anniversary update isn't installed until it's stable. I agree though it should enhance not break current capability.

My thoughts exactly, but after I built my step dads new rig last week installing Win 10 Pro Anni Edition on a fresh system and fully updating it we have the same issue.. not one single mobile phone will connect as a mass storage device and the same MTP driver errors are present, also included are the random audio mix ups. At this stage I'm saying it's MS at fault and not the user.
