Windows 10's April 2018 update is now available to download

My PC did a major update today and broke the grub menu mid way through, had to set boot in bios to windows to continue, my linux is currently inaccessible so need to fix grub again at some point other than that everything appears to be ok even the privacy settings stayed the same for the most part

Update works great for me. Also, check your privacy settings. The update restores and enables all of it.

This is completely unacceptable of Microsoft to force restore users settings, basically without alerting them of it, or even asking for their consent to do so.

I know, but it’s a human principle to ask before touching someone’s property. And even more so changing it’s basic operation(s) in one way or another.

I have a feeling my 64gb SSD is not big enough for this (second rig home away from home). It keeps queuing up, then failing. Mind you, I ain't missing much let's face it. Windows does actually work right now.

Seems to be fine except I can no longer play audio via DP to my X34. Possibly unrelated but happened after the update. I spent two minutes on drivers before I decided I can't be arsed and plugged in my headphones. If you go to test speakers on the X34 though windows it says 'cannot play (or was it load?) test file'

Luckily for us in the EU and EEA this would be 100% illegal for them to do considering GDPR is about to hit everyone in the industry hard.

My update retained all my privacy settings. They wouldn't dare change those here.

You're buying into a service. Digital rights are treated differently than non digital rights.

Where is here? Where are you located? Being in the Netherlands I hope my settings remain. My software is all UK versions though (grew up with it so I don't understand Dutch software lol).

It did change the settings as per freaking usual, it also always reenables onedrive and a load of other stuff i disable.

Didn't do it to me, there again though I've trawled through Group Policy and disabled everything that way. The only things I've found is that it logged me out of my Google Drive and turned Action Centre notifications back on, which I promptly switched straight back off, which is now "Alarms Only". Will go trawling through Group Policy again to see whether there's an option to turn them off entirely.
