I'm starting to look forward to windows 10, vlc gets installed along with my motherboard and gpu drivers. The only thing I'm not liking about windows 10 is the tiles in the start menu I hope they put a metro option in, I like how I have windows 8 setup

I been really looking forward to it being released myself, it is really starting to look like the next mass update for the majority of users out there, and businesses that are looking to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8.x will now be looking to Windows 10, so they will no doubt end up holding off the upgrade till it has matured a little.

Next week (1st December 2014) is currently scheduled for an update to the Technical Preview that has currently been released, although the build number is rumoured to be the same. As of yet it is unconfirmed, but this update will require users to perform a clean install of it to get the most from this update, and the new stability that it will bring along with it, although the upgrade options are enabled in the installation process.

There are 2 development lines on this, the Slow and Fast, the slow build is the current relase that is out there in the wild, but with the majority of the bugs that have been reported being fixed, although the development of the Fast line still progresses with adding things like new features and options, whilst as mentioned the Slow line takes the best of the Fast builds, and then applies the bug fixes and updates that are needed to bring it in line with the current fast build.

There will be a few new features coming out and the SLi / x-fire bugs that some users have gotten with their combination of hardware is looking to be fixed (not just patched) out of the box.

I have been holding off on a clean install of Windows on my rig for a couple of weeks now whilst I have been waiting for this release as the improvements that are brought about in this and the general state of the build, is reported to be very stable and a lot quicker, along with better implementation of the directx layer for improvements in games etc so the frame rates will of improved a lot (see my review on current preview release here).

There is already an option to drop back to the Windows 8.x style metro start screen, right click on the task bar and select propeties, and it is somewhere there in the options.

Well not a big deal... FLAC and MKV are free and any third party codecs/media player has it. It's someting that should have been included since Win7 SP1, really...

If microsoft support it out of the box it does open it up to alot more people then current.

Can anyone confirm if VOB support is back? It would be nice to play DVD rips again with Windows Media Player :(
