this article is wrong.

Windows 10 64bit and Windows 10 32bit is 38.28% put together while Windows 7 64bit and Windows 7 32bit is 39,93 put together so basically Windows 10 is not the most popular OS. Windows 7 is still on top.

Except they're considered to be 4 seperate things in Steam's survey, so W10 64-bit (and thereby W10) is on top.

Also, please behave more modestly, when it's your first day on a forum. You're coming across as rude.

I agree with August Olsson. Most of this win10 spike is caused by microsoft's sneaky bs upgrade methods, free or not. And I do agree that 32 and 64bit should be merged together in polls like this.

Windows 10 is on my SP3 and I've put it on my home server too, both non-gaming non-Steam machines. I've held of putting it on my main rig for many reasons but it'll be on there soon. Probably a day before the deadline!

@ August, I don't think there was anything rude and welcome to the forums, its always nice to cross reference and improve information for the better.

Funny Story. We were playing a round of Payday 2 yesterday when suddenly of my fiends dropped from the game and our voice chat.
A few moments later he send us a message in mobile group chat. Basically saying, I think my pc is sh*ting me. It closed down all applications and is now installing windows 10.
We had a laugh he didn't find it funny.

It's really not that hard to disable it. Just use UWT4. It'll disable windows update completely if you turn on the option.

Or you can just do it manually bye uninstalling 3 Windows KB Updates i don't use a program i didn't install those updates that give the update to Windows 10 and i have no pop up for Windows 10. It's not that hard to do it manually it just comes down too people don't want to do it manually.

Which are?...

The obvious reasons really. My system is running really nice on W7, it's all set up for reliability and performance with a lot of programs installed. There's nothing to adjust, change or tweak; it's at it's optimum. Also, my workflow is productive with things the way they are. I don't want to risk that by installing W10 on the top of it.

I like to install Windows fresh; I never install these inbred operating system updates, which is what updating W7 to W10 feels like (it was like this with my SP3). Also my main SSD C: drive is getting to be too small at 480GB (2x240GB RAID 0) and I want to change that to a single 1TB SSD.

Thus I'm holding on until I get a 1TB SSD, understand how to fresh install it and have the time and opportunity to be without my main rig. Then there's the additional time required to install all the programs, optimise the system and then get a productive W10 workflow going.

I suppose the reasons aren't because W10 is a bad operating system, it's just not the right time for me at the moment.

^^ agreed, I am waiting until the last safe moment for the free upgrade as win 7 is still working fine for me. I have it installed on my kids pc's and jump on them now and then to get a feel for it.

When I do no doubt I will add my little bit to steams figures :)

I think your friend mistakenly scheduled his windows upgrade. I had the notification for almost 7 months now and it is still there.

You can fresh install windows 10 like any other OS of windows with a USB or DVD, the instructions are listed in their website. your windows 7/8 original key will migrate automatically to windows 10 upon finishing. it's very easy and straight forward. I had a friend who was worried about installing fresh copy of windows 10 since he had a pre-installed version of windows 7 on his laptop. i said earlier the windows found his key and replace it automatically with a new one for windows 10. so no worried man.

If there wasnt a deadline for the free upgrade I would even consider upgrading any of mine. Going to do all on the last day. Going to be jard to say goodbye to the goodol W7

Either way. UWT4 though does a lot more than that. Especially for W10 it can disable a lot of the "privacy" issues people complain about. But if you don't want 10 then either method works
