Win 7 HP to Win 7 U

So i have Win 7 HP and my school is now offering me a free windows 7 ultimate. can i just download and burn the image to a DVD then install Win 7 U from Win 7 HP using standard OS install methods? or do i really need the "Win 7 U upgrade from Win 7 HP to Win 7 U" disk? the school site says i need to do a "Custom install" if i were to do it from Win HP. i am not sure what that mean?

NVM i got it. it is stupid that you need to purchase mandatory software just to upgrade from win 7 HP to U

Can't you just use the "Anytime Upgrade" option in Win7 HP, should only take about 10min, everything is already there afaik, just needs "unlocked"

On any version other than ultimate right click computer, then click on properties and anytime upgrade should be on the left, PC I'm currently on has Ultimate so I can't check for certainty.

nice. for my rig in may i will probably opt for ultimate, having got home premium x64 on the laptop atm.
