The Nintendo Switch will cost £280 in the UK, which is more than the cost of both the PS4 and Xbox One, with game preorders costing as much as £60.

Damn, thats alot, imagine if you got one of those for your kids and they lost one of those controllers, which i can see being lost very easily how much those would cost to replace.

the price of this is bizonkers i was going to get one close to launch as a pleasant in car family gadget for the siblings because im a dope big bro but the pricing is just woeful. extra set of controllers 80 quid. tesco are doing xbox one controllers for 30 and thats legit microsoft not the licensed crap with extra leds. nintendo must have a base in the states where the weed is legal because whoever is incharge of the pricing of this is on the way to nate diaz

I don't think this is a significant enough price hike for their customers to care, especially since it's kind of two devices in one.

Not really. Tablets have had the ability to be plugged into a tv for ages and you can get controllers for tablets too. So what they are doing isnt really revolutionary. Its just a giant more powerful gameboy advance with detachable controls and video out. Simples.

You can take my comment as a small jab towards their customer base, ie. generally not technically minded people.

Also, even though tablets support that, the software doesn't integrate nearly as nicely as a purpose-built ecosystem.

Despite how much I want a Switch this price is ridiculous, I was hoping to have one day one but the price counted me straight out. I have a feeling that this will sell terribly well to begin with then fade into obscurity pretty quick

I really hope Nintendo can make this a successful product somehow. Price is just one factor, but it's a pretty big factor and I can't see this being terribly successful at its current pricing scheme.

I wanted to get one for my daughter who is 3 and going for 4, but I guess I will make a touch-screen pc for her in the living room instead. Will be better in the long run. Priced way too steep.

Yeah it's far too expensive. Even for parents who don't have a clue about spec and so on it's not being received well. And for those that do know? meh, expensive tablet that connects to the TV.

Shame really but not unexpected.

I'll be honest, I'd buy one right now if that price game with a free game, but this +60 for a game is a bit much for me.

Game prices have hiked so much I haven't played a new game at launch for ages and ages. £25 is my limit, I simply refuse to pay any more so yeah even if I wanted this thing I would be put off.

Really puts into perspective how cheap new PC games are.

I have been through the console phase as I was there when it all started back in the day.

Yet I now REFUSE to pay 50-60 euros for a game. I much preferr to wait for some deal etc. If this was 200€ or something like that then yes I would buy it.

The last time I paid full price for a game was 2015. Before that I don't remember. I can patiently wait for a product to drop in price before buying it, especially when I am 90% confident it will.

Yep I use CDkeys for everything now. Have been for almost 2 years. It's amazing! Even on my console I don't pay full price, I either get it on CDKeys or wait for a sale.

Watching the presentation I get the feeling you can get it March 3rd, but hardly any games will be out, £65 for the pro-controller £74 for extra joy-con controllers. seems it would be cheaper building a PC
