Will 2 different monitors work?

So i will get the 120hz BenQ monitor soonish, and i was wonderering if it would work with like a cheap Iiyama monitor?

The reason for that is sometimes i run out of space when i play a game but want to watch a youtube vid at the same time or when i have many windows open etc, so my question is will i be able to run both monitors at the same time without any problems like the BenQ might only run @ 60 hz etc

you should be fine I occasionally run my 1920 x 1200 26 incher with my 1680 x 1050 24 incher without the main dropping to secondaries specs

Hi,

I often use two monitors at once, one (main) is 1920x1200 the other is an older 1280x1024 - both monitors play happily together.

The only time you'll likely get an issue (and this is a driver thing) is if you try to run one of the monitors in a non-native resolution. For example, if I played a game full screen on my main monitor (let's say and older game) at 1280x1024 the display on the 2nd monitors display would be offset and you'd lose some of what you have there. I think as long as you run the native width you'll be ok. Still, likely you have no reason not to run at native so imagine it's not going to be an issue at all.

Personally I often have monitoring stuff up on my 2nd screen while testing overclocks etc. This way I can game normally in full-screen, while keeping an eye on temps, CPU and GPU load etc. on the 2nd screen.

Yup, I run 2 mismatched monitors @ work. I have a Lenovo 24" ThinkVision WUXGA display as my primary and an old Acer 19" widescreen as my secondary (I keep my Outlook open on this monitor 24/7 to watch for new email). Works a treat! I'm using an ATI FirePro 2260 vid card in my work computer just for reference.

Same here. I have one 24" wide screen and one 15" screen monitor and they work perfectly.

Like you, I have a 560 Ti. I'm running a 19" widescreen at 1440x900 as the primary display, and the 17" 4:3 at 1280x1024 as the secondary display. As this is a simple extended desktop set up, games only fill the primary display, with the secondary display shows the desktop.

I'd not be without my 2nd monitor now, so very very useful.

Am actually going to use an old 15" screen as the 2nd monitor for my gateway too...in many ways a 2nd screen is more versatile that a larger screen as you can still full-screen game on one, and have other stuff on the other without issue.

Yeh dude, the size of the screen does not matter. All you need are the right connections!!!

Ahh, excellent, I was confused with if or not I needed 2 nvids to run 3 moniters of various apps.. thankyou

I thought you meant generally. With Nvidia cards, you do need two of them in sli to run three monitors, but again the size will not matter unless you are gaming.

There are some Nvidia cards that can run three monitors individually, but they are in the lower end.

Most nvidia cards can only run two screens nativley.

It's a bummer that. I'm dropping the idea of buying a 3rd for now.. hope later by my next upgrade they make an adaptor or a better card. I have a lot of programs open at once 3 would have been perfect.

yeh someone told me that.. I just don't like their cards comp to the nvids.. I've already respent the extra moniter money anyway, lool

I am new to actually building a pc, I must say, it's a suprise nvids are limited like that..

The only slag is that when you connect another monitor to a Nvidia card they automatically run very very hot.

I've got monitors all over the place but I refrained from connecting a second (which is a shame as it's useful for monitoring temps and stuff) because I didn't want my room turned into an oven.

oh - right, that's not good, well one of my parts isn't in stock till Jan 10 so I better look into the AMD, I don't want two cards if I can help it, less components equals less trouble for me..

Thanks for that info.
