Consoles are awesome as a quick route to play a game
You don't install, faff about with folders, find new patches, fix installation errors, downtone settings if your hardware aint good enough or faff about with button configs.

I've always been a Nintendo fanboy, but when the DS was released, I concidered it a gimicky lump of junk. Fast forward 1 year, Nintendogs comes out and the gf is dropping subtle hints.
Now, I rarely go anywhere without the DS. In the same way you wouldn't class Pixar movie as "just for kids" don't be mistaken that Nintendo games are just for kids. Some are so hard, I have to put the cartridges in a drawer so I wont be tempted to play them, and then get depressed that I can't get past level 8 ( I'm looking at you Trauma Centre! ).
So, yea, Wii =/= kids only. Trauma Centre is coming to the Wii, for a start.
Anyway, the PS3 is broke already ( something about it writing memory at 25GB/s but only reading at 16MB/s .... something like that ) and the X360 has no decent games ( except Viva Pinata! ), so Wii wins by default. Yay Wii.

I like both in all honesty
