Why onboard sound so poor ?

LOL, thats how I feel MOST of the time... Wait what was this thread about again? oh yea...

On my DFI LP 590 the Onboard sound is beautiful. Its the Realtek HD 885 is sooo much better than what I have had in the past. I had the X-Fi (sold to PV) and it was very good too. Honestly I cant tell a difference between them.

With it and my Z2300 speakers I am very happy.

I guess what all i was really trying to say is, onboard isnt as bad as its cracked up to be. Some people are just willing to deal with it and save some bucks where as others think they MUST have the latest Creative uber card and other stuff. I just try to make the best out of what i have and so far its not doing to bad for me.

Having played with a lot of motherboards I use discrete sound for my main PC because onboard just doesn't cut it.

Even the 885 HD chips sound "harsh" to my ears and just don't match up to an X-Fi in gaming.
