Why does this have to start happening to me!

Right gonna quote direct off another post I have going but to see if anyone else can help here cos I am at a loss....

It all started this morning (early this morning about 5am); I had shut my machine down as I normally would last night (switch PSU off on PC as flashing USB light cable is annoying!) but at 5am I heard my compressor start up...

I sat upright in bed and looked at it and it said MACH II Activated but then after 20secs it went back to idle...

I didn't think anything of it at the time adn went back to sleep.

Wake up this morning and decided to swap my PCP+C 510Dlx in (cheers marci! ) so I went about swapping the Tagan to the new one and it looked great and lot easier to cable in than the Tagan (Plus I can now screw PSU all the way back as couldn't before due to 120.2 rad and Tagan depth). Go to power up and it takes an age to pull down to 0c.....

...hmmmm I thought tres strange so I let it continue and it got to -14c and came up with a Too slow error. I switch off the prommi and pc leave it for 10mins and restart. This time she pulls down to -25c in next to no time, almost too quickly! Hits -40c and boots up. Excellent check rails in BIOS and boot into windows...

after a couple of minutes temps rise to 0c it alarms and then shuts down...

OH no you can imagine what I thought when I tried to pull it up to boot the temps where rising not falling....

(you can smell my fear that this point)

So i have a listen and can hear what I thought was leaking gas... Nooooooo so I try one last time and she starts to pull down quickly to -25c....then -40c and boots....gets into windows and it comes up as too hot again

i am really panicking at this point thinking I must have knocked the house and torn the thermal bus!!!

As the temp was jumping between -49c and 80c and flashing sensor uffa error on display I started to think hmmmmm maybe then its a boot loader issue.... This would explain the dodgy compressor start and why having so many errors....

So out comes my mums new PC and I open her up and connect the USB and power header, install the software and flash to 821 bootloader software. Flash is successful and I restart the prommi and attach it back up.

Let it sit in BIOS to check temps and after 10mins of sitting at -53c and -27c (well -17c but DFI reads 10c low ) in BIOS I boot it her up...

Well I am now sitting here for like 20mins and no problems. I have been running F@H (with prommi panel off) and Evap is -42c with fans just above normal and CPU at -10c.

So I suppose the moral of the story is that there is no need to panic when these things go wrong and to logically go through each step to try and resolve the issues. Its not difficult and took me hour and a half to resolve the issue and get my machine back up and running

How glad am I I haven't torn the thermal bus? About this big!

Hope this helps someone how may be experiencing similar problems
This all started yesterday and is happening again today

I switched machine off last night after a days successful running with temps being great (Evap at -42c cpu @ -1c --> 1c) but this morning flick everything back on at the switch and am greeted by a prommi trying to start itself and coming up with SENSOR FAIL Sensor UFA

I have made a small clip of it in action on my camera...

Uploading now

I think I am gonna cry. What can be done?
What do you guys think? Is she properly stuffed?

Have checked LEDs and it goes: -

(may be otherway round as I was looking at them in a mirror :p)

Green | Green | Green | Red

Off | On | On | Off

On | Off | On | On

It was flashing between whilst saying NO SHUT DOWN 99c and SENSOR FAILURE on the front...

Two options mate either the sensor has gone or your control board has gone neither of which will be that easy to fix best solution is speak to phil

Sounds like a controller issue to me. I've got some spare boards arriving soon. Where did you buy the unit from and when? Can you pm the details to me please.

Right after a discusson with phil on MSN (ta mate) he talked me through two ways of resolving the situation and would like your input: -

  • it sounds like a control board issue but until its diagnosed we don’t know for sure. I can also recharge the units to r507 which is 2 or 3 degrees cooler than a GT, this costs approx £100 inc shipping one way. Reference the repair its hard to quote you until the unit is in and diagnosed but it’s the time more than anything else that will cost. I would imagine you could be looking at £200 + for this unit to be fully repaired and recharged. Its definitely worth having it repaired
  • Selling the Mach II as is in its current state and saving up for a new Mach II GT with Warranty and everything else.
Now I am leaning towards the second option as the warranty etc is the real seal.

I am thinking £175 for my mach II as it still works but it could do with a new board. and then using some of the money I have saved up for it.

opionions need please

If its just a stock mach2 then I am not sure you will get £175 for it because who ever buys it will still need to get a board for it which I am not sure you can get one??

I would see if Phil wants it as a trade on a new GT or flog it off cheapish dont know mate I know my regassed mach2 is 10 degrees colder than my gt

Asked phil bout trades but his not doing em :( i'm stuck. What do you reckon would be a good price for it then?

Mate not sure but i'll give you £100 for it lol :D see if anyone else will give you more is all I can say I realy need a third unit

£100 is way to low cos the thing still works its just it takes a while to get it started! The compressor is fine...

Looks like its gonna have to be repairs. No way I can afford a new Mach :(
