Well, first relax, because this time I beleive that Microsoft did a decent job with it.

First step you need to do with Windows 8 is keep an open mind, because Microsoft finaly changed/improved the GUI of windows for better work flow and organization.

A lot of the stuff in windows 8 is in the Windows Key. Where you have your apps/widgets. In there if you start writing a search out of nowhere, it changes for the app search window, and if you leave the search space empty, you will have almost all the applications. Then you can right-click and pin it to the start. Etc Etc

Just try to learn the new ways. Search in google for the shorcuts and the new stuff, like the bars that show up at the sides when you place your mouse near the top conners of your screen.

Anything I can help let me know,
Ralms.

I think my issue is that W7 does everything I need. With my SSDs, everything's instant to open, so I don't really see how I'd benefit from 'upgrading'.

Well, my strong points about it is support for multiple monitors (Finaly), problably better support for SSDs and more lightweight and quicker then W7. On top of that, when you open a aplication, he leaves that application allways open. If you close it, it will go in a "aplication hibernation" that will make it even faster when opening again. Stuff just feels like switching windows XD

Im not buying it for 2 reasons only, Its too expensive and I dont have enought money to afford it. But I will most likely use it anyway.

Aah, but looking at this just for me, where opening new apps is instant anyway (apart from you, Steam), and where I only use a single monitor, would there be any benefit?

I'll be getting it for my cousin, and using him and his laptop as a guinea pig, so I'll see how I feel about it after I get it installed.

yeah =) that was what I was about to say when I started reading your reply. I really cant answer if its gona be a benefit for you. Well, as I said before, I have an ssd too and stuff is fast as hell, the funny thing is that W8 looks optimized in a way to work fast in normal HDD, now think how fast it gets with SSD, is instant, is not 2 or 3 seconds xD

The only part I would see you getting beneficts from it is less memory usage and better resources usage in general. I would say half boot time, but ssd XD Because yeah, its faster a fair bit then w7 in boot time.

Too expensive? Mine was £24.99?

What do you mean support for multi monitors?
It's barely any better at all - they've just realised people use multiple ones and basically set the taskbar to go all the way across... even though it's just mirrored anyway.

I am getting more used to it. It's definitely not massively faster than 7 though, maybe a little, but not particularly noticeable. Certain things take a lot longer too - I've never had to google how to shut down a computer before...

I'm not liking having to install beta drivers of everything though...

Hi there,

Maybe in your situation, or aplications you use, you dont notice, but I did, its faster.

Anyway, windows is £24.99 or $39,99 but that is Upgrade from Windows 7 or other older version. I never owned a windows in my life, they are allways ridiculously expensive. Everywhere I saw the prices for a full version, it was around 200/250€.

Even so, I blame microsoft in this one, its extremely hard to find a place where to buy a full version. Everywhere I see, shops mislead people saying that they sell W8 for those cheap prices, but they dont say that its an upgrade.

At $39.99 I might just have to pick it up then... So I'll give them my money, but I won't be happy about it...

I wouldn't just yet...
I'm having a few issues with mine.

Pretty much all software and drivers are still beta versions and it just doesn't feel as smooth as windows 8 did.

Still a fair bit of work needs doing I think

Yeah the thing is probably riddled with bugs, but I might as well get a product key while the price is so low so I can install it legally whenever I want, most likely once SP1 comes out.
