Who has got a Commando?

if anyone on here who owns a commando, post up your OC results, when did you bought it, where your PCB is made, so we can see if there is really a quality problem.

I've been tempted for some time to get a petition of sorts put together to see if we can get Asus to admit to this massive problem, identify the board revisions with the issue and perform a recall.

Abit had to do it with their faulty caps problem, and most of their boards didnt suffer any problems for quite some time. With these asus boards, the problems surface within days.

I agree, the place that I got mine from (scan) are waiting to hear what Asus have to say about the whistling/buzzing/chirping problem, but it will be interesting to see if they admit that it is an RMA-able problem.

Because of all the problems that Ive had, I have been looking for other problems with the commando and there are quite a lot of people with similar complaints, but the most common is the lack of any kind of consistency and uniformity when it comes to quality control of the boards components.

I'm definately thinking that the boards made in the Chinese factory are inferior to their Taiwanese counterparts.

I'm not saying that the Taiwanese ones are great, just that they are slightly better than the Chinese built ones.

Has anyone got a Commando that is made in Taiwan?

i have one

i like it

where do i look for Rev number?

the rev number will be in small text near where the name is printed on the motherboard. by the ram for P5Bs and by the PCIe slot for the commando.

Do it XMS, make a petition and spread the word, im sure some other forums have a tonne of people who would put their name to it

llwyd - cheers, it seems mine is a 1.00 china made goodness.....

XMS - if we can get all the info with regards to where its made and how many of these have the chirping noise, we might just be able to force reseller and Asus to replace our boards.

Clunk - honestly, there will never ever have good QC in china, no matter how big of a company they are.....hence thats why major car manufacture pulled out of China for making parts.

My P5B (from china) that just died had a QC PASSED sticker on the back, right next to several scratches (nowhere near a screw hole so it wasnt me), one of which looked like a drill mark  You could see copper where the surface had been scratched .......

mmmm........good QC eh? im not saying 100% am sure its from the guys/gals in china who did that to your board, but im saying from the stuff i've seen thats made in china, a good 80% chance the damage is done before it left china.

anyway, who ever read CPC mags, they did a review on the commando, their board is from taiwan........somehow EK water blocks photos shows a commando from Taiwan.....and i forgot where eles i seen a reviewed commando is also from taiwan......

part of marketing eh? send the good stuff out for reviews, then rip us consumer off......

Weihk, is your board chirping? Where did you get it from?

from Scan, havent managed to make it chirp yet, not enough OC i dont think. only at 2.8G due to ram not letting me.

Theres a couple of people that I know of, that arent having the noise problem, theirs are from scan and I know that 1 of them had an almost identical serial number to mine.
