who feels like being nice?

Ok, so i have basically no idea about overclocking (i know it is sad). Anyway can someone help me out, iv got a Dfi nf4 ultra-d, HIS X800 (reg one), Crucial ballistix (2 * 512) , Venice 3000, mach 2 gt, pelt on the gpu...

Thanks in advance

Justin

Clock everything as high as it can go stabley :p.

Ok I'll be nice. Do the cpu and ram from bios on the DFI and use ATiTool for the graphics.

Go for about 250*12 as a start and work up (?). I don't know what that ram or cpu should be capable of really.

Set voltage to 1.65 by setting VID to 1.45 and special VID to 113% then you can go beyond 260FSB (as long as the ram lets you) or set ram at 166 (in DRAM settings) and go for a 300 FSB. Personally, I would sell the 3000 and get yourself a 3800 dual core.

Set RAM volts at 2.8v (or 3v if you put a fan over the dimms) and that should help with stability.

Use ATI Tool to overclock to the card to max stable (for benching go beyond stable and introduce a few artifacts) or even send you card off to warlord shigs for some volt mods and go even higher.

Good luck

eh a venice 3000 is locked at a 9 multi ...

set the mem divider to 166

set the cpu frequency to 250

set the htt to 3x

run windows... bench and superpi, prime95 etc etc

then if all is well.. keep putting cpu freq up...

set the ballistix timings at 3-3-3

oh, and maybe set mem voltage to 2.9, cpu to 1.6 or something...

When starting out with a new system concentrate on one component at a time and test, it takes a while but saves trouble later on as you can rule things out.

Good point - 340*9 with a 133/150 (available on DFI?) multi?

133/150? im a total newb at overclocking remember... thanks for all the help though everyone!

those are memory dividers. They can be set in the BIOS under DRAM settings (the first option in that page), or maybe using A64 tweaker. If theres a sudden large change made using A64 tweaker, your system will hang. Thats something to watch

EDIT: Direction added by mods:)

I'm sorry justin, i cant be the only one that thinks this..

Youve wasted a lot of your money on a lot of high end kit that you dont actually know how to use.

Obviously it's up to you what you spend your cash on but until you've learned the basics of overclocking on air i wouldnt have touched water let alone phase.

Try learning the basics of A64 and memory clocking by reading the various guides e.t.c on the net - there's no quick fix to overclocking, it's a labour to find out just how far you can push your stuff.

i realized this a long time ago, well now that iv got the kit i may as well use it, for me it was a simple matter of economics. The fx55 ended up more expensive than a prommy and a 3000 venice, venice can probs go bit faster. I didnt think it would be this complicated...
