The White Rig

Edit: Check out later posts for updates!

Hello everyone! :)
I am posting my workstation build based on Asus Sabertooth Mark S motherboard.

The idea behind this build was to complete it in white "fresh" color and since lots of parts were expensive and hard to find, it would force me to not upgrade my computer for a long time (because I found it difficult to be satisfied when I build my PC - there is always that I can change something, and it takes up money which I don't have).

Rig specs:
Asus Sabertooth Mark S Z97
Intel I7 4770K@4,5GHz 1,27V
32GB of Avexir Sabranco 2400MHz
Enermax T40-W
SuperFlower Leadex Gold 650W White PSU
Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD
WD Black 1TB HDD
Fractal Design Define R5 White Window
+ Enermax 140 White Fans

I am mainly satisfied with my build, it runs like a champ - no problems yet (it was completed by May 2015).
However there are some inconveniences... mainly being the case. It may sound strange and weird but the window on this case is making weird noises... Yes that's correct noises! It's crunching, cracking, etc... It took me awhile to pinpoint the problem. First I thought that it was the PSU, sometimes electronic components can make such "firing" noises, however when I opened and later striped my build and switched PSU it was all good. When I put it back together without the window it was good, but when put back the window it started again. I've purchased second one and it was the same. I think that it's due to temperature changes, somehow acrylic is expanding and it makes those noises.
So I am unhappy with the case, however there isn't anything better in white color on the market. Besides that, this case is super great! (they could make it bigger though and larger window :D )

Second thing is the GPU. Oh God I dream about Galaxy HOF series card, but those are unavailable in my country and getting them from outside would cost more than 700 pounds... And I can't afford it. This is the only thing that I am missing in this build. Also I need to switch for some nvidia card since I will need it for IRAY.

I mainly use this build for making stuff for games (content, tools, programming, etc.) I want to play games but I am not touching them before I finish few projects :D

So guys tell me what you think! :) Hope You'll like it!

I tell you what...I'm not a great fan of white normally but that rig looks really cool! :-)

I actually really like the way the GPU kind of breaks it into two parts...

Thanks!
Nope, haven't used it. I am using plugin from nvidia for maya and also in substance designer!

I will upload some new pics with card that I've got from a friend :)

I like it. The Lightning looks like a beast of a card in there. How come the cables to the GPU are different to the others? Just looks a bit odd.
Apart from that - really nice.

Very clean... will this show dust bunnies more easily than a black case?
Should be the opposite actually. Dust contrasts against black and is obvious. White just kind of goes dull.

So the case does marvelous job when it comes to dust build up.
- very good filters
- positive airflow (2 fans in, 1 fan out)
I don't see any dust build up. When using a finger then it catches some dust particles, but significantly lower amount than I am used to!
Only drawback is that under front door there is some dirt marks. I don't know why it happens but it requires cleaning from time to time with wet cloth.

About different PSU Cables - this is how superflower makes it. They like to mark PCI-E cables with red connectors and CPU with Blue... I am thinking in a long term matter to send it to pexon, however it's pretty expensive.

I am thinking about buying 980 Ti HOF. It just showed up in one shop in my country and it costs 590 pounds, so it's not REALLY terrible.

Edit:
Here are my uploaded photos. This time with MSI Gaming GTX970 100ME Edition :) Also I added a few of my general desktop setup :)

I hope You enjoy!

Shiny! Didn't know that about the cables - makes sense but Yeah it's a shame to ruin the aesthetic! Nice desk too :)

Very nice fella! Very nice indeed, I love the KFA2 white cards  they look amazing in white almost a shame that I painted mine. I wish I'd know about this build sooner I would have swapped you the black PCI plates for my white ones, sadly it's too late and I've painted those too.

So you've gone from some sort of Lightning card, to a 970, to a 960.

Am I missing something here?

That was my reaction too, I thought this was a machine for iRay too? With only 2Gb of Vram on that 960 you're going to be pretty limited with what you can visualise.

oooooooooooooooooooooooh nice!

Thank You!

You guys are complaining to much!
You leave me no other choice!

This card is huuuuge! However I think it's still smaller than my 290X Lightning.
BTW. I have to agree with TTL that the backplate should be white but I won't be a complainer since this card looks sick!

Check out those crazy screws!

My next plans with this build:
1. Swap PCI brackets with one from my girlfriend R4 case.
2. Buy two more Enermax Cluster Advance 140mm fans.
3. Probably get Alpenfohn Matterhorn White CPU cooler.
4. Somehow get white thumbscrews.

5. I would like to buy at least 1TB SSD, that I could get rid of HDDs and remove the cage (SSDs would go to back section of the case, behind motherboard tray). However those are still crazy expensive...
6. Finally send pexon cables for sleeving.
