Ok well ime looking at getting a tft and have narrowed my choices down to 3 of the ones i like the best-in this order...

1.Samsung SyncMaster 205BW http://www.savastore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?product_id=10289103&catalog_name=Savastore&page=mainfeatures&pid=0

2.Belinea 102035W 20.1" Widescreen http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_This_Week_Only_25.html

3.ViewSonic VA2012w http://www.savastore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?product_id=10286285&catalog_name=Savastore&page=mainfeatures&pid=0

I am really liking the syncmaster 205bw at the moment,it seems really good value for money imo,especially with all the good things ive heard about the syncmaster range of TFT's :)

But i thought i would ask the "experts" first;)

post away!:cool:

Samsung definately. They definately have some of the very nicest sets on the market. Rival quality of Dell for sure :)

I know for sure that Viewsonic 20" use pretty naff panels. Not sure aboutt he belinea - I've heard a few good things

As for the Samsung - it's a Samsung so it's bound to be good :)

I've always liked the look of viewsonic and Samsung panels, Samsung monitors seem very sharp with great colours but I haven't been able to check ghosting or anything on it.

I would get either the Samsung or the Viewsonic because they are trusted names. Depending on the size that you want they are both good.

Yeah those samsungians know what they are doing. 6ms response time is pretty decent. Thats a really tight display glock.

precisly, red to green can easily take 4 times more time than white to black.

but another thing i seen many miss is the update frequency.

60hz = 16.6ms for every update.

75hz = 13.3ms for every update.

also something the manufactures are very quiet about is with how good a screen can produce colours.

the lower the response time the more off is colours and i can se it on my 3ms screen if i switch between windows in windows with different colours in them, a very quick flickering.

I agree. IIRC, Viewsonic and a couple of the others use a method of over driving the transistors to speed up response. This results in the required level being reached in 3mS, but does not mention that the level continues to rise/fall, before eventually settling at the correct value. The flaws with this system appear most with rapidly changing colours. With a bad display, during video playback or fast animation, it seems as if areas of the screen are flicking between brighter or darker than the rest. In my experience, a good 8mS display looks better than a 3mS overshooting.

your right Archmage but it also comes down to preferences.

i doubt the "flickering" is even noticable for most people, i noticed it because i knew it was there and looked for it.

only one review on the viewsonic i have mentioned the flickering, think it was tomshardware and they had only noticed it during videoplayback of a sky.

all low ms screens is overvolted as far as i know but is 6-7 monhs since i did my research so can have changed.

True points there which is why i took into consideration the response times:)

I doubt it is really 6ms,might be more like 8ms who knows.

But still its a sexy a$$ tft and i will be ordering one sometime this week:D :cool:

Thanks for your input lads-I think i have made the right choice:yumyum:

Why do we do that?

I treated me and the missus to an InFocus 4805, c/w 80" screen, last year and use it for home cinema and the occasional lan party :D

But why did I have to see if I could see the rainbows?:mad:

Now I see them all the time!

After all of that discussion, Samsung is definately where it's at. They make probably THE nicest panels on the market, also considering the fact they they manufacture probably 75% of the panels used in everyone elses monitors. They keep the best panels for themselves :)

For sure, I know frinds with the 17",19",20.1" samsungs, and they love them, and i like using them as well, They are great panels. You would be very pleased with one, and with the opposing panels you have listed i think its quite easy to go with the samsung :)
