Which Ryzen should I opt for?

Hello guys,

So I have been rather interested in AMD and Ryzen lately, as well as gotten fed up with Intel and how they run their business. Specially towards their customers.

I am now looking into either the Ryzen 7 1700 or 1700X, not sure which one that would be the best suited for me really? Since it's only about £40 price difference, which isn't a lot.

I did read somewhere that the 1700X do have a certain technology which allows it to boost it's clockspeed as high as it can go, if it feels that it is getting enough cooling?

I am also wondering about wether to go with Biostar AM4 itx X370 or B370?...

Since I've watched BitWit's video on this X370 motherboard and he said that the extra PCI lanes etc that X370 has over B370, is a bit wasted, due to only having one 16x PCIe slot and one M.2 slot. As well as no SLI or so, hence the purpose kinda is gone...

I did also come across this video (if you guys can be bothered) and at around 7:00-9:00, I think that either the 65W (1700) or 95W (1700X) will both be rather cool with that small AIO in the video (Asetek 545LC), which I've ordered today:

If you dont mind a bit of OC go 1700. If not, 1700X is probably the way to go.
But what are you comming from, and what are you going to be using it for?
The 1400 and 1600 is also a really good chips depending on use case.

with only 40 dollars between them, the 1700x should do just fine, i'd go with any b370 chipset if your not looking to Sli/crossfire.

I had an 7700K and tried OC'ing, which I eventually realized isn't for me. So from now on I rather not OC, just use it straight out of the box so to speak.

I am actually coming from an 7700 at the moment, but since I wanna support AMD etc, I am considering this. Even though I do know it's like a waste...

I will most likely just browse the web, stream movies, have a few games here and there (Battlefield etc), doing some Photoshopping. Basically that.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing really... And no, I'll go with mITX and in the future the tiny Dan Cases A4 SFX v2, so SLI is out of the question and I don't really like more than a single card anyway. So only one 1080 Strix OC for me

Are you aware of the current ITX boards and their small heatsinks being to small and cant really cope?

Personally i would stay away from itx, or get a downdraft cooler as Tom suggested in his video.

But sorry to be direct. It stupidity to let go of the best gaming chip around, just to give a company a support they won't notice. But if the money is burning in your pockets be my guest. You can then sent me the 7700, and ITX bored I can then show it some love
