As you may or may not know, my maximus formula went tits up recently. Dead. Deceased.

So I need a replacement board, hopefully not costing too much, for a Q6600, ReaperX 4gb 1066 kit, 5850.

So I want to be able to clock with it, but I don't think im asking something spectacular

Cheers

Could you be a bit more clear on "not costing too much?" :)

Chances are i dont need a top of the range board, just something with stable voltage, decent at overclocking (i'm a noob so it needs to be forgiving)

Just sub £150 I suppose, I'm behind on whats cheap or not on boards to be honest

Cool :) thanks

I do actually have a p5b deluxe hanging around doing nothing, is that going to be good enough to clock?

Would save cash in the long run wouldnt it

what res do you game at,you wont notice the diff IMO under 1920*1080

pairing the 5850 with 2.0 will obviosly fair better but shouldent be a major issue

what is the difference between the p5b and the p5q

one thing i have noticed is it has 2 2.0x16 slots and 1 1.0 slot

for £91 its way under budget so you will still save cash, plus it looks a decent board

1680 x 1050.

I'm thinking the p5b deluxe to save cash so i can concentrate on saving for i7 sooner rather than later

As long as its nothing like 20fps loss or something stupid

I got a biostar tpower i45 for £45 two months ago for my core2duo :D (did have a asus p5w) clocks a lot better than the p5w

I would say get a 2nd hand p45 from somewhere/someone u can trust, should clock a q6600 without breaking a sweat :D

I hear the p35's are ok for clocking also and they are quite cheap

All seems to be good now fellas :)!!!

I don't know how or why but I just decided, what the hell, ill put it back together for one last try, seems to be working this time ok (touch wood)

Thanks for the input and I shall consider them if this board continues to be flaky :)
