hello, at the moment i am looking for a new system as my current one is a tad outdated now :(

current system specs are:

xp home

pentium 4 3.00GHz

radeon 9200 graphics card

1GB ram

160GB hard drive

it has served me well and has dealed with all the games i have thrown at it until now (motogp 2007)

i have found a pc that i want put it does not have a deicated graphics card :(

(system specs for new pc)>

AMD SEMPRON 3400+

ASUS M2V MX MOTHERBOARD

INTEGRATED GRAPHICS BUT EASILY UPGRADEABLE TO A SERIOUS GAMING GRAPHIC CARD

1 GB RAM - DDR2

160 GB HARD DRIVE

XP or Vista (will having vista slow down the computer and gaming more than xp ?)

im not a 'serious' gamer and dont 'need' dual graphics cards and 4gb ram etc im an average gamer who usually plays games like

.doom3

.motogp 2007

.medal of honor allied assault

.will be playing Cyrisis

i dont mind running them on medium settings as im used to that with my 9200 graphic card at the moment

what card is best for money for my needs? im on a tightish budget and i will be getting a second hand one from ebay.. i just need something that will play the most games and will last for a couple more years until i need a new one

i was thinking along the lines of

.512MB nVidia GeForce 7200GS

.Nvidia GeForce 8600GT

regards

josh

Something like a 7800 or 8600, depending on prices.

Whats the budget for your rig? because I would really suggest going C2D if youre on a budget, will get a lot more for your money

my budget is well near to nothing now :L

the cost of the new computer is about £110 off ebay from a company

since i dont have a job (in yr11 and going to a college interview in 30mins)

i dont have lots of money, the reason for new computer is my one is now getting outdated and i need another one as family members also want to use the computer so i need my 'own'

i was searching for a Duo Core 2 processor but the pc's are quite pricy

would it be best to try and get a card that supports DX10 like the ATI PCI EXPRESS HD 2400PRO HYPER MEMORY ??

if you are going for ATI dont get anything below a 2900 for any type of gaming.

I stick with the 8600 (it is a DX10 Card)

great :D

one question i should of asked before will the 8600GT be compatible with the ASUS M2V MX MOTHERBOARD ? since it would probably wouldnt fit in the slots on my current motherboard ?

That depends whether you bought a PCI-E or AGP version. The most likely one is PCI-E (as they are newer, more common, and generally cheaper) and if so then it will fit in the 16x PCI-E slot on the ASUS M2V MX board no problems.
