Which laptop?

Hi,
once again I seek help picking a laptop. Its for Adobe software only (no gaming).

ASUS X550JX (£708):

Asus N550JK (On sale from £905 to £755):

While the IPS panel speaks to me (especially for Adobe software), I fear the 850M wont be able to handle 4K-resolution well, as opposed to the cheaper one that only has to handle full HD but with a more powerful GPU.

Any advice?

Do you have a budget in mind? I'd suggest looking elsewhere for laptops apart from Asus. Their non ROG laptops are really poor in my experience.

Dell do an Inspiron 15 with a 1080p IPS screen, an i7 5550, 16GB of Ram and a radeon r7 m270. Sadly no SSD but IIRC Dell don't mind you swapping out the drive (*I might be wrong so I suggest you ask*). They also do a Precision (mobile workstation) version of it.

I thought the IPS-laptop from Asus was an ultrabook, it certainly looks like one on the website here.

Giving you a budget is hard since im from Denmark and we dont use £ .

I did however look up the Inspiron-series on the Danish Dell website (prices pretty much the same in this case), and unfortunately IPS is NOT listed on any of the 15"-models. It simply says 15.6" touch TL FHD. Background-lit LED touchscreen with Truelife. The 13"-models however come with IPS... BUT, unfortunately they come with HD Graphics 5500, and I really dont think thats enough for Adobe software???

I maybe should get in touch with Dell as it seems odd that we dont get IPS-panels but UK does (on the 15"-models). Speaking of Dell, is it worth buying? Most important is that theres no fan noise...

I could not find any Precision-models.

Ultrabooks are generally under 14" and don't have dedicated graphics cards. They also tend to feature U series processors which have a lower power draw.

Alright. Are the U-processors good for graphical work with Adobe? Tons of laptops I look at are with i7-U-something processors, which from I understand are really just 2-core CPUs, and not 4.

How about a Toshiba laptop?

- i7 4510U
- 8GB RAM
- Radeon R7 M260 ( 2GB )
- Full HD, yes IPS

Unfortunately no SSD, and I have no idea how well that GPU performs.

No, it doesnt. I just dont want a noisy laptop. Its not Euros but our own danish currency (Danish Kroner). But, even if you do use a currency converter, the prices might differ here.

I've written an email to our teacher asking what specs. exactly he recommends, because I find the "I7 and 16GB Ram" to be abit overkill that was on the paper we received (especially when they dont list if it has to be a 4-core CPU like 4720HQ or if the U-CPUs with just 2 cores are enough).

Then you'll want a very chunky laptop as they quite often have more powerful cooling.
