Which GTX 780?

I've decided to go with a gtx 780 as I will be playing on 5760x1080, I know it'll be lacking power but probably couple of months down the line ill buy another and go SLI.

I will be watercooling and I like the features of the stock cooler where it glows and stuff :lol:. Plus im WC anyway so why spend more money on a cooler that you'll be taking off anyway.

So which GTX 780?
There's an offer everywhere, on every site but the baseline no sale price is around £55-£580.
Also I really would prefer not to go with 'not so popular' (in my opinion) brands, unless you can give me a reason to change my mind about them.

Right now, as of making this thread, there is a Gigabyte(reference) 780 on sale for £539.99 but on another site, there's a EVGA(reference) 780 going 'normal' price for £549. I like Asus(reference) but seems to be out of stock on this particular site and on the other site its in stock but its selling for a ridiculous price of £629.99

So obviously you would just go for the Gigabyte and I probably will but I have NEVER had or even purchased an EVGA or a Gigabyte product before, so I don't know which one of them has the better customer support and all that after purchase features.

Gigabyte and EVGA both offer 3 Year warranty so there's no edge in that, so which one of them offer the better after purchase features?

I know there's also the MSI, Inno3D and KFA2 but like I said, I really would prefer sticking to the 'more known' brands; unless you have a good reason to turn this preference of mine around

MSI is a top brand so no worries there with you wanting a "more known" brand.

Pick the cheapest out of MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte.

Personally I got an Inno3D here in Australia because it was the cheapest on offer. 2 year warranty vs 3 wasn't an issue as I upgrade every 2 years anyway.

So as your recommending to choose out of MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte, does that mean that EVGA's after purchase support/features isn't that good as those three?

Gigabyte if the price is good they have a good RMA rep and their RMA center is in the UK so not much shipping costs if you have to send it

With EVGA you can extend the standard 3 year warranty to 5 years for €25 or 10 years for €50 and they respond to emails quick no matter what issue or questions you may have.

EVGA is the only answer. Putting a water block on their cards doesn't void the warranty and neither does overvolting via software.

EVGA gets my vote too. Their new ACX cooler is actually really good and those cards still fit reference waterblocks I think. Nobrainer for me.

Their step-up program is a big bonus too

I recommend the Gigabyte windforce, the card looks great, performs well etc. The EVGA ACX is a good alternative.

I think all the manufacturers are good quality but EVGA is my personal favorite for the above mentioned reasons as well as their step up program which is pretty cool. Galaxy would be my 2nd choice but really any of the name brands will be fine. Id shoot for EVGA but if you can find a good deal on an Asus, Gigabyte, Galaxy or MSI, Id have no issues going with one of those either.

EVGA will be my choice for my next cards because you don't void the warranty by putting a waterblock on them and I guess that, is why they normally cost more than the other branded cards in the first place.

I just wished other manufacturers would do the same thing though.

Oh wow! I didn't know that about EVGA. With the price difference only being £10-£20 between Gigabyte and EVGA AND with that assurance of no warranty being voided, I will definitely be buying the EVGA card and possibly, until other brands make this part of their warranty.


Now I cant decide whether to get the EVGA reference 780 which is £549 or the Superclocked with ACX Cooler which is selling for £569.

I am watercooling and I really like the reference cooler with the glowing light and everything however it's only £20 difference and you get an OC out of the box and then there's the trouble of researching if an XSPC Razer Titan/780 GPU Block will fit the ACX version.... Oh decisions!

If it is for watercooling you will want that reference card and there is no point spending the extra to get the aftermarket cooler in my opinion.

It won't fit. The XSPC block is designed for cards with the blower-style i.e. Nvidia stock cooler. However, there is a Superclocked version that uses the reference design. ACX version makes no sense if you're planning to w/c your card and it won't fit anyway.
