Hey guys just wondering from everyone who reads this. What GPU do you all recomend to run in SLI? Building a new rig.

Really need to know what amount of cash you have for the rig.

Otherwise it's a simple case of 2x 580, and god help us.

If you are on the budget side get two GTX 460s they are some pretty amazing cards. If your not on the budget side like Rastalovich said get two GTX 580s .

Budget and what do you want to run? If folding (good idea

), you'll want an nVidia setup (I'll assume you want nVidia anyway because you mentioned SLI and not crossfire). Depending on budget, GTX580, 570, 470 or 460 are all excellent choices. If you want to go ATI, then 6870 or 6850 depending on budget. It's really all going to depend on what you can afford.

Just an idea: get yourself an EVGA Classified Super Record 2, it has 6 pci x16 slots and i think is priced between 450 ~ 500 quid. Then as you can afford it (as the board isn't exactly cheap) bung in a 460 superoverclock, and gradually add to your gpu array. couple of low end i7s and 6x 2GB ddr3 sticks to split between them in triple channel. You'll need a beefy psu too but it will be overkill until you accumulate 4> cards. Again, it depends on your budget but will be a nice project to add to each pay day.

Or, you could get couple 580s on a more standard board..

IIRC i7's don't work on an SR2, apparantly only Xeon's work.

Gotta press the easy button on this one... 2x 580's is the best you can get. I'm guessing money isn't an issue?

As the others have said we would need to know your budget and also what you would be using the GPUs for..

@Alien What is with you and that mobo?
