atm only nVidia GPU's are supported for folding in Linux.
There is a siginificant advantage to be gained when SMP folding in Linux as opposed to Windows. You get a much better TPF -> QRB, and the OS is free!!
Does anyone know if there are similar advantages to running an nVidia GPU under Linux vs running it in Windows?
The reason I ask, is that at some point in the near future I plan to replace my SMP folding rig with a GPU based one and I have 2 options.
1. Go nVidia and run it under Linux. (Won't have to fork out for OS)
2. Go AMD and run it under Windows.
My budget for a GPU is £250 ish, which is in GTX 770 or AMD R9 280X territory.
I'll be using an old 775 board, E5200, 2gb mem & sata 2 SSD.
What GPU brand, model & OS would you recommend for best PPD/W?
