I have the following motherboard, Commel LV-676D and having probs with over heating. I currently have a E6300 installed.

What CPU would anyone recommend buying for this. Not that fussed about speed, just want it to run cooool. I've already tried underclocking this, but the stupid motherboard just resets at normal speed.

thanks!

yeah, the chip i have is a 65nm, would getting a 45nm one be a wise idea? if there are any cheap ones.

I`d look further into what the mobo supports or if a bios upgrade is required to go 45nm. I think I read somewhere it doesn`t like extreme Intels, so it does have it`s limitations to some extent.

just trying to use some dodgy software to throttle the cpu. Anyone have any suggestions on software?

EDIT: Currently using a program called RightMart CPU Clock Utility to throttle the cpu 50%, but the temp is still 60c :s

already tried underclock through the bios, but it keeps resetting itself to a normal clock. It's in a mini-itx case. it has a special cooler, i've also tried some new heatsink compound.

If the mobo supports the Pentium E2xxx series I'd get one of those. Its just a c2d with 1mb cache and lower fsb. They go for abot 25-30 on ebay. Great little chips with very good performance and aren't crippled too much by the reduced cache.

I would sell it man will save ya allot of hazzle, espacially prices are so low now, get a E8400 and a cheap P35 and you are set.
