Im planning on upgrading my graphics card but im not quite sure about what makes one better than the next (apart from price:yumyum:). so i was wodering if some of you could give me your opinion and some tips on picking one of these cards (or any others in the below £90 range)

The first one had alot more RAM but the second one had DDR3 RAM and a higher clock speed. Any help appreciated!

If you don't like or cannot afford Hatman's suggestion I would go with the XFX 8600. :)

Quicker as you said and it has DDR3.

Lots of video memory is only good if you want to run high resolutions. ;)

These new cheap(ish) radeons kick ass tbh! It's nearly as fast as the old 8800GTS from what I can read in reviews!

Why not stretch the extra fiver for one of these?

a 3850 for £95!

The 3850 is considered to be the first decent mid-range card since the x1950.

Check out custom pc's review.

Much better than the 8600's - I wouldn't touch them.

There's also this at scan;

an 8880gt for £117! if you can stretch to it - only 256mb of ram clocked lower than other 8800 gt's

This gives about the same performance as the 3850 but you can overclock the memory and it will give very similar performance to a standard 8800gt.

If you're not overclocking or the extra money's too much, go for the 3850

Go for the xfx one, theyre suprior warrenty, support and the fact its overclocked tip the odds too it.

And according to this picture its gonna be a tight fit!

if you go to amazon and can wait, i ordered a Palit 3870 512 mg card for £114 del. there is a 3-5 wk wait but well worth it.

Good choice of card but good luck with the supplier, OcUK are awful. I guess your customer service can be testament to their new manager

I didn't have any problems with them, delivery was a bit late, but there was a few days of heavy snow so they couldn't help that

Yeah they've always been good getting things out quickly but when it comes to RMA customer support and service they are dreadful.

Oh my god, this card is way better than i ever imagined, before i was timid with my games an thier settings, but now. . .(except crysis, obviously;))

In my test a GT could play Crysis on high comfortably. Might have to tone down the AA but it's worth it for the graphics.
