hello i am in process of upgrading my pc, and come here to ask for some help.

So what and why psu would you go for?

a) Corsair TX 650W (no modular cabling, higher power output)

b) Coolermaster IGreen 600W (modular cables, more efficient which is always nice to know, but less powerful).

My system atm is E8400 which i keep oced to 4ghz, radeon 4870, all on old skool asus p5b. future wise too, might be getting second of 4870s so keep that in mind

Cheers for all feedback

Not reviewed Corsair's TX range but their HX lineup was good (despite being not much more than a re-badged Seasonic).

I reviewed the iGreen 430w and it was a nice PSU, but I wouldn't want to make a decision on the 600w based on that.

Have you looked at a Silverpower 600w at all? A few peeps here have them (incl me) and they've been going strong for over a year.

any reason why is that so? :)

Uh I've made all my friends use the 520HX, I put the 520HX in my dad's pc. I've seen the factory where they keep their PSUs/Ram and they test them pretty well.

If you have read the reviews, the Corsair power supplies have done great in all of them. The HX series power supplies are extremely quiet and efficient (mainly because they are higher wattage power supplies that Corsair advertise as lower power ones. The HX620, for example, is actually around 700W or so, but Corsair re-rate it as a 620W). They are extremely well priced as well. The Silverstone power supplies are great as well, but aren't generally as popular because they are more expensive, but not really better.

The non-modular TX and VX series power supplies are great as well. Running a VX450 myself. The TX750 is in particular a popular choice, because it is great value for the wattage that it provides, yet is a brilliant performer.
