This isn't the first time this has happened this year. Won't be the last. People and companies are to reliant on software.
its pretty scary how much we have migrated from bare metal, to cloud servers now. All it takes is one bad update on those and down they whole company goes.
I remember Azure going down and it took down 50% of our companies services as we used the same vendor for many areas.

It's like people have forgotten about the meaning of back ups and vulnerability.
Like why all use one company instead of several, it's like with shares and economy... most people invest their money in many companies rather than few ones, to spread out the risk.
using one company saves your millions and millions. And you go with the best product. If the same vendor is providing the best in all areas, then why wouldnt you choose them?
Downside is that you give them alot of power over you.
