What u want to see in Windows 8 ?

Think we can settle that Windows 7 is going to be all the things Vista was meant to be by the opinions of many people.

But what about Windows 8 ? Snow Leopard will obviously take the glory from Windows 7 as Leopard did from Vista :p But what will Microsoft come up with to make their next spawn compete with the next cute mammal named offering from Apple ?

What we want/need to see ?

I'll start the ball rolling with the removal of 8.3 dependancies.

Haha +1 on those games.

Ability to choose if you want to install certain parts in the initial setup. For example IE, those games, windows media player and a few more of those things. Maybe easier style setup too instead of that aero thing? I'd love a complete brushed aluminium layout, bit like the apple colour scheme (errr, white, white and... bit of grey)

As said; a more modular installation.. no IE, or games or paint etc.

I'd like a fully customisable interface.. with a easy way to edit it e.g. drag and drop certain elements.

More of 7.

Oh and no paint or anything of the basics that only 7 year olds use.

They should make it part of the Windows Live package.

A total and utter overhaul with all legacy compatibility removed, a new filesystem, database based registry, completely modular at install time.

Also two versions. One for the Minimalist professional who wants a completely stripped down basic system to start from (a'la Gentoo) and another for the Casual user who wants everything ready to go right from install (a'la SuSe)

Nail on the head! :)

64 bit only (who would install it on an older machine anyway).

If the manufs cant make x64 bit drivers in like 4 years they dont deserve to make peripherals.

Another + for modular install - hire the guy who brought us nlite/vlite and incorporate the same technology or options etc.

Yes..the registry does need a bit of an update.

I'd like to see the registry be just for OS stuff, and be fully populated, protected.

All software installed stuff has to go in its own folder.
