What to do with my storage drive when installing W8 upgrade

Hey guys

I have a corsair SSD for my operating system and a seagate hard drive for mass storage in my system.

Next week I'm finally making the jump to windows 8 from windows 7.

My question is though, what should I do about my storage drive? I've already backed up any data I want to keep from it, because I want to do a clean install.

Do I format the disk now in windows 7, or leave it alone and format it in 8?

I'll be unplugging it during the installation to make 100% sure all the OS goes on the SSD.

Cheers,
Tim

You don't need to do anything with it?

Just unplug it during the installation and then plug it back in after.
Why do you need to format it?

Yeah you don't need to format the drive. Once the windows install is done, re-plug the storage drive and all your files should still be present.

I'd like to ideally start again on that drive too, as it's pretty messy in there at the moment with loads of files that I never even remember installing (Most seem to have come from steam)

Looks like I'm best off just going that form windows 8 though.

I don't like windows 8 either, had it installed for a while, and yes you can get used to it and do a few tweaks to make it more like 7.

But I don't want to support Microsoft's, what seems like a bad idea of a phone/table like operation system been forced onto pc users with desktop been an after thought. Sure Microsoft needs to get into mobile, and they should, but they don't need to screw their loyal desktop users in the process.

Like the guys said above just unplug the hard drive and install windows with just the ssd installed in the pc, that's what I did recently for my windows 7 and worked great.

Good Luck.

why would you want something to be 'like windows 7' when you're probably better off just installing windows 7?

Because you want the new features but you want to customise it to something you're more familiar with?

Don't do it dude. I did it an regretting majorly. I got poking for the start menu which helps but it still just doesn't sit right with me
