What should I choose?

So, if you've read my new thread about buying a new rig for my girlfriend, you may have seen that I'm contemplating on giving her my Cruicial BallistiX PC8500-sticks, and buying something better for myself. So I found that my mobo (P5N-T Deluxe) can run PC9600-sticks aswell. Now, the thing is, would there be any real difference in performance, or would it be unnoticable?

I was looking at the Kingston DDR2 HyperX PC9600 2048MB CL5, as they are the only one offered by the netshops I've looked in. Does any of you have any experience with these, and do you know if there is any other sticks I should rather buy, like maybe OCZ (PC8500)?

Hi mate,

Well here are some questions:

What OS do you run?

Will you Overclock the ram?

If you run vista or you are likely to run vista soon then i would say stick with 8500 and get 4GB instead, You can overclock them a bit nicely anyways you wont notice much real world peformance ...

See this:

You will have to spent a little more ... it will be worh it!

Edit: Ok .. i just bought the same pack a week ago for 75 pounds! The price has increased badly?!

I'll probably run XP until it craps out and I'll HAVE to run Vista, I guess. But anyway, when I finally decide to run Vista, I'll just buy 2 gigs more anyway, so that's not the problem. But I guess I'll stick with the BallistiX and buy another set for the missus. :P I ran them on 1200Mhz for a while, but I'm not sure of how long they'll endure 2,35v instead of the stock 2,2v.

Nope, timings at 5-5-5-15-2T, and at first I think I set the voltage to Auto, but I guess it would be smarter to run them at 2,35v instead of having it going way over.
