Hi Guys, seeing as I live in the Southern Hemisphere and almost all of you live in the NH, I thought it would be interesting to see some of the cool sites of where you live. The furthest I have travelled abroad presently is Bali, so pls help me out and show me why your neck of the woods is great.

P.S. It can cover flora, fauna...it could be your country in general, just gimme anything. I suppose I had better go first.

I live in ireland so erm erm we do have those new intel fabs and and green stuff oh and the nicest guiness in the world (went to england/scotland (liverpool/edinburugh/preston/london tasted like crap .. sorta metalish)

very nice sai_jao...and BONO is a good thing. Btw have you heard of the comedian Jimoin, he's Irish and resides now here in Australia. He did a tour of Ireland and went to the Guiness brewery, it was the best.

Yeah that used to be the case, but the Federal Govt have relaxed their policies quite considerably. You should come and visit, crash at PV's place.

Well we are from basildon in essex, england. Theres nothing that great around here but this is the pick of the crop.

1) Southend Pier - The longest amusement pier in the world. 1.34 miles. Though the pier is in reasonably good condition at the moment it has suffered 3 fires annd 2 major boats crashing into it and destroying over half of it. All in the space of 49 years.

2) Mother and Baby Statue - by Maurice Lambert, was commissioned in 1959 to symbolise the growth of the New Town - which stands today in Basildon's Town Square.

3) St. Martins Bell Tower - At the heart of St Martin's Square in Basildon is the world's first bell tower constructed of glass and steel. The frameless glass walls of this octagonal tower give unobstructed views to the interior, displaying a ring of six medieval and two newly commissioned bells. This was officially opened in june 1999 by queen elizabeth II.

4) Southend Sea Front - Not only has southend got the worlds longest pier. It also has an amazing amount of amusement arcades on the prominarde, 2 theatres, a theme park, miles of beaches and also the kursaal. This was once also an amusement park between 1880 and 1940 but it then became a theatre where many famous bands have perfromed rolling stones and the beatles are just 2 examples. Unfortunatly the kursaal in the 1970s and much of the land was developed as housing. The entrance hall, a listed building, is now a bowling alley arcade and casino. 5) The Cats Cradle Pussiwillow III Clock - was commissioned by Basildon New Town from Rowland Emett in 1981. (The designer of the car in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.The Clock becomes animated on every quarter hour, with a full display of rotating and spinning taking place each hour. It also is a water fountain and my fav childhood memories are throwing pennies in the water.

hehe - Good cruising scene too - plenty of Barry's in their modded cars!!

I live in very nice village of some 1000 residents near Derby. We have about a 0.1% crime rate and lots of wildlife and peace and quiet. 2 shops, 2 pubs, 2 churches and a Primary School. Oh yeah, and we won the "Large Village of the Year" for the last 2 years I think

See the little yellow box? That says SPARTANS, for the Maine-Endwell Spartans. Pretty cool, 'eh? It's spelled out on a hill, going up to the tennis courts, with white marble stone's. Then, theres a Picture of my street, from Satellite. My house is somewhere in that black box, I cant se it because its behind tree's.
