what is the best 939 cooler on the market at the minute and how much do u think it will drop my temps at the minute my opteron 175 is a 2.5 i have both cores at 100% for the last 3 hours and the temp has sat at core0 50c and core 1 55c thanks in advance

What cooler are you using now?

Also although you should be able to get higher than 2.5Ghz there is no guarantee.

I really like the AC Freezer64 (best budget)

The Zalman 9700 is good

The big Scythe coolers are good too

The top air coolers right now are pretty much the Scythe Infinity, Scythe Ninja, TT BT, and Tuniq Tower 120. The Zalman is very solid too. Arctic Freezer is pretty much the best performance/price cooler out there. PV had some good luck with ASUS's Silent Square too

I think any of the earlier coolers will work better for you. I like the idea of smaller heatpipes spread out better than 1 in the middle.

I used a Zalman 9700 LED in my HTPC system. It is low noise (I keep the rpm low) and gives low temps on my 4200+ (idle 30 °C, load 37 °C) but YMMV. I was really impressed with the results, must have something to do with the heatpipes.

The only downside to this cooler (and the ones mentioned above) is their size. Before you buy make sure there is enough room around the CPU so the cooler won't hit off any components or parts of the case.

woppy, u can also blast the fan on ur heatsink u have now and the others, so thats also a factor :P if noise isnt

iv owned the zalman 9700 myself, its proboly the best silent/performance sink on the market, if u want performance Tuniq tower is the best right now.

i have a zalman 9500led (i know its outdated and there is the 9700 out:damn: ) but it works realy well and is cheaper than the 9500... my opty is running on it and its @ 3ghz

so id say the zalman 9700 is your best choice:D

Scythe Inifinity and Tuniq Tower 120 are the current reigning champions for air cooling.

There's also a new company on the block making some very good looking coolers, Enzotech. Their products looks really high quality, I'd be interested in giving them a shot! They use forging technology on all of their designs compared to the more traditional extrusion, casting, and soldering designs that most companies use.

I feel a review coming up :) Now that I'm back on air (well, soon to be) I might be able to come up with something on this.

another vote for the tuniq :rocker:

really good temps and slightly easier to mount than the infinity

if you want silence, you can always turn the fan down a bit :p

ive got an opteron 170 2.0ghz dual core with the new stock AMD coolers (the one with the heat pipes).

ive got a lian-li PC-V2100Bplus and im getting 35-40C idle and 40-45C load (overclocked 30% to 2.6ghz).

what would u recommend for a air cooler so i can whup it up to 2.8?

or would u say....sod it Alex, just spend £300 or so and get a water cooling setup (not summat i wanna do right now though :/)
