What is better: TFT IPS or Super LCD?

Hello all,
I just got a new phone (Nokia Lumia 920). It uses a TFT IPS display while my 2 year old phone (Desire HD) uses Super LCD.

However when I put the phones next to each other with full brightness the Desire HD is showing much more crispier white. Its way more "snow white" than the Lumia 920 which seem to have a yellowish tint to it.

So im wondering if this is due to a faulty device or if Super LCD in fact has better colors?

not really contributing, but i still use a nokia xpress music 5800. i think it's 5 years old now. no idea about new smartphones, can't handle the new super sensitive touchscreens with my big fingers.

I'm thinking there is an issue with the Nokia Lumia as IPS whites are meant to be some of the best (same could be said about the blacks)

sounds faulty to me really.. although a small IPS may not be in the same category as a large computer IPS screen, it could be a coating has set incorrectly i remember some iphone's having a yellowish tint early in their lives that apparently magically went away.

Setting brightness to 100% is usually a bit much on any screen though, so bear that in mind.

Can you change the backlight on it?

Can't believe you're using that, most unresponsive phone I've ever used lol.

Yeah, there was a similar issue with the early Galaxy S2's. A number of my friends had a yellowish tint on their phones.

I'd say IPS for sure, they look pretty smart in my opinion.

I have a Lumia 800, which has no yellow tint whatsoever, I've had it since mid November.

Actually I have just remembered that a friend got a Sony Xperia S and that had a yellow tint. Turns out it was from a faulty batch so it took it back and they replaced it when they got some in.

i actually like the old touchscreens better because they dont get a spastic attack just because i put my finger on them. way more relaxing to use. + i'm not a facebook user, so i dont really need a new phone, i only use it for text messages, music and sometimes for looking something up.

After receiving my 4th phone I finally got a non-faulty device. It turned out the very coated screen on the first device infact was faulty, as putting them side-by-side it is clear as night and day how the new device is much more bright and colors are much more crispy.

Im guessing a batch of faulty devices has been shipped, as I received two with faulty screens, and one where the camera did not work. The now 4th and last seems to be perfect, so far...

Thanks for all replies.
