What is actually differnt about Linux?

What's good about it? No really, I'm in the search for a decent OS.

Stability, software support gets better every day, tons of different FREE distro's to choose from (find the one that suits you best). There are a lot of good reasons that Nix is a good choice for an OS but you need to be Nix savvy or at least willing to learn console commands. You'll find most everything you do, even in the GUI, will be executed or installed through the terminal. Linux is a winner for sure though!
