What have you broken?

Nothing can compare to throwing computer parts through the air like crude frisbees in a group of four on a sunny day.

That was pretty good. Got a bit jaggged, but still good. I may have another one... And to all you people who havent played HDD frisbee, you should.

Noooo... Use busted ass hard drives for speakers....

You can wire em up to ur stereo and they sound pretty good and loud, and it's totally bitchin' to watch the arms move on the disks and shit. Totally the best use for broke ass hd's :D

OMG sweet! I'd never thought of that... practical but pointless reincarnation of HDD mechanics... heheh...

Beat you to it, mate. Currently listening to The Best Rock Album In the World, track 5 disc 2. Surprising how cool it sounds on a HDD...

I'd take pics if I hadn't left it at my cousin's today :D that's the problem with offering to demonstrate things to people... forgetting to take the kit home afterwards...

When I steal it back, though, lol. I don't know about anyone else who'se tried this but it needs one hell of an amp to push the arm fast enough. And if you hold the arm still and keep the HDD firm on a solid surface, on it's side, you even get decent bass :)

Thread to measure how clumsy people are... :D I'll go first! My hardware related breakages include, in no particular order:

- Coolermaster 3-5000RPM variable speed Socket A heatsink fan

- Several Pentium 486DX CPU's and two primitive motherboards

- EDO DIMM RAM - 4Mb & 12MB, 2 sticks

- Compaq Contura Aero 4/33C laptop (I loved that thing.... *sob*)

- One Xbox, old version

- One Matisha (?) DVDROM drive

- One CDR/W drive -48x12x48x

- One Athlon XP 2200 Thoroughbred CPU

- Asus A7S333 Socket A mobo

- Asrock K7N8XE socket A mobo

- Abit Av8 socket 939 mobo

- Nvidia Geforce 4 4400Ti 128MB

- Sound Blaster 16 ISA soundcard...

- Generic external IDE drive power adaptor thingy I bought recently

- Several small SDRAM sticks, 32- 128MB

- Seagate ST157A HDD

- Conner Peripherals CFS425A HDD

- HIS IceQ Excalibur Radeon 9800Pro 128MB

- Two Diamond Multimedia 8MB AGP video cards

- Several pairs of headphones, heh

- Old HP scanner (would remember model if amnesia allowed)

- One Xbox Controller S (but I hate those things anyway)

- Western Digital Caviar WD12100 HDD

- Several IDE cables of various types

- One really old generic PSU belonging to a friend...

There are other things but they aren't related enough... I am the PC menace! Bow down to my seemingly arthritic hands. To be fair, some of it just seemed to go bust after I'd played around with it by some kind of sick coincidence. I swear I'm not really that bad.

erm please dont go near my computer *is scared*

the only fing i busted (that i can remember) was an old laptop which i recently exploded;

i had it overclocked by about 50% (51 since i moved the fsb from 66 > 100 maually by changin the timing crystal to allow the pci to operate @ 33 again) and had to 'mod' the incoming powersupply prob with a laptop is there is a lot of resistors to put in place to protect the other components and the way to the processor ne after running for nearly 2days strait the transformer gave out a beautiful high pitched squeal and exploded as did the processor and sum surrondin components .. was fun and wanna do it again :)

I should be repped just for posting that awesomeness :D hehe

I haven't had a chance to try it out for myself yet but I know a few guys that have done it and it's so cool! The sound quality in the vids on his site don't do it justice.

Hehe that's aight :)

The rep system here is kinda goofy... I think the rep/day limit should be raised. I can think of about 5 people that deserve more reps from me that I still can't rep.

Yesterday I threw an IDE HDD for about 20metres then went back a distance and got my friends hunting rifle out. It was an old 4gb thing that was totally FCUK'd!!

Unfortunately we were spotted and had to high tail it away before the cops got there, otherwise I would have rpoudly displayed pics!! hehe :D

Speaking of the HDD's... the one I replicated from that Afrotech dude's HDD sound system I got bored with and decided to rebuild. Plugged in the controller board back into the drive, screwed in, powered on... it caught fire... haha...
