What cooler for my phenom 2 940

It was wildly out though Tom. Seriously I remember posting my temps in the Re-ALX thread right after I got the 12CP and even you said it was wrong lol. Load up probe, massive temp drops.

IIRC AMD's board was a cut down version of mine, but pretty much the same. Just didn't have all the toys lol.
 
idk fella tbh been to sleep since. I think AMD needs a new cooler deffo but a new CPU and some serious research on how to overclock an AMD cpu properly. I honestly think he needs to start a "how the fly flip do I overclock a phenom properly" and once he knows he is at his limits doing it properly then start pushing the rest.

Its not just about the cpore speed with amd, the wrong combination of HT and NB/CPU will also make a clock unstable.

End of the day amd if you want big clocks youll need volts which means a mans cooler

Oooohh...cant wait for the review. I just saw it 2 days ago and it looks like it might be a good cooler but looks don't make it good. Cant find much info on it though.

Especially like height from bottom of mounting base to bottom of fins.

NH d14 still rules for now.
 
a new chip is off the cards cos i would need new RAM,MOBO and CPU and thats in the area of 450-500 pounds.

but i can get a new cooler yes so out of my choices what is the best to get then.

and i use HWMON and coretemp

EDIT-it will most likely be a A70 there cheap and cool very well
 
hmm I have a ninja3 on my 955, for the old skool you surly need to get somthing scythe

? it is 6.25 inches tall tho and I dont like the flames BUT I do love the fact is just a massive BLOCK of heatsink which has good air flow through it all personall choise.

The A70 is a nice smart cooler just not very differnt (like a ninja)

I also use the multi to O/C my 940 as well. Tried upping the bus but even with a 1mhz increment it would refuse to boot, strange!

Can easilly reach 3.6 Ghz and 3.8 GHz with the hyper 212+ (pretty good me thinks), I wish I had the money to blow on the HN-D14 though. I'd love to hit 4 g's on this baby. haha!
 
yer man its a shame when that shite happens least u now got a decent cooler on it.

you might get to 1ghz core?
