ok 3weeks ago I RMA'd my 4890 back to xfx (via scan) and i was told i will more that likely get a replacement of a similer card as the 4890 is now discontinued,so what yall think there going to give me

my bet is a 5770 as its around the same price dare i say it performance

altho they could/hope they give me a 5850 as a step up

any one had much experience with xfx RMA's

Youll be very very lucky if you get a 5870. AFter asking today it really depends what they have to replace it at the time. Its a case of stock, if they are 'meant' to give you a 5770 but dont have any you get the next one up ect.

So hope and pray that only have 5870's :p

Considering the 4890 tops the 5770 in Direct X 9 (so an entire back catalogue of games barring about four) then it would be really mean of them to give you a 5770.

Still, it's better than a dry slap I suppose. I hope they send you a 5850 :) would be more of a fair trade !

Not sure why they don't have any to give you though. I mean, the 4890 is still very available around the interwebs.

actualy ive just got of the phone with them and there goin to give me a different brand 4890?

should i say i want a xfx card

All you can ask for is the same value card when purchaced fella. When it comes to RMA's theres not much room to budge.

well there was no budge with the guy i argued te fact that if he bought a evga gtx 470 and got a scanFX 470 back would he not be annoyed?

anyway its a powercoler one its getting sold as soon as it hits my doorstep anyway

i dident no i could lol,now i no for next time

how do i do that, and how long does it take,i no there is a XFX office nearby

That doesnt mean XFX actually have any though....

No that doesn't, but the fact that VCS (Videocardshop) keep selling out and then getting more stock says it all to me. They only sell XFX cards and I know that they get them directly from XFX.

However, the RMA dept does not have its hands on stock so I very much doubt they would just send out a new one.

Should have gone to XFX direct if you wanted an RMA 'upgrade'. Scan have a massive stock of other cards to give to you.

Yeah that's usually what you do with BFG. I had problems though because my 8600 GTS was part of an SLI pair so I had to wait whilst they refurbed one for me.

stop rubbing it in lol,i no for next time i was thinkin i just should of said 'send me the card back ile RMA via xfx'

Happened to a friend of mine in the US. He drooled over my 5900FX for ages. Finally got around to buying one and by then it was pretty cheap. Arrived DOA...

Sent it back to BFG and they overnighted him the 6600 ultra IIRC. Something like that. I remember it being the best card Nvidia were making at the time. Jammy git :D

6800 Ultra, I had one of them suckers.... What an amazing card it was. 6 series was a huge step in the right direction for nVidia.

The 5770 is worth exactly the same as the 4890 now, bang on £130 smackers. The 5770 isn't as fast as the 4890 but it's fast enough and you get DX11.
