What about the GTX 1080 Ti?

With a new Titan always comes a new Ti, so what will the GTX 1080 Ti look like?

Read more on the hypothetical GTX 1080Ti.

This decrease in memory bus size will also result in a decrease in overall memory bandwidth, lowering the total memory bandwidth of 480MB/s down to 400GB/s.

That's an insane increase!... God damn!... Or decrease?.... Wait, what?

Wonder when the 1080 Ti will launch, Nvidia would be miffing off a lot of 1080 owners if they released the "Ti" only a few months after the 1080 launch.

That's the trick though; get everyone to upgrade their 980 Ti's to 1080's and then throw the 1080 Ti at them to get another round of upgrades. They're targeting those who have to have the best and will spend whatever to have it.

The only people who will be miffed are the ones that saved for ages to get the "next gen" card on release and then get duped because they didn't see the Ti coming.

True that, I'm going to keep an eye out for the swathes of 1080's that are going to appear on the pre-owned market soon to get a 2nd for SLI ^_^

That's exactly what they will do. It'll either happen one of a few ways. 1. They get wind AMD is about to release Vega and panic release like they did with the 980ti. 2. They wait until AMD release Vega. 3. They make sure no one else is going to buy a 1080.

Either way Nvidia are not your friend and contrary to what you make think and feel they really couldn't give a flying chuff about you, your money or your feelings.

I learned that the hard way many years ago. They are a corporate monster like a tank who just roll on crushing people as they go.

When they do release it they will absolutely pound the 1080 through marketing making it look as bad as possible and making the TI look like a much better card, just to make you feel better about yourself.

All those options are not really "appealing" to be honest. 320bit memory bus? Not cool! GDDR5 when the 1080 is already on GDDR5X? Also not cool!

I may throw another guess into the mix: There will be no 1080Ti, there will be a Titan X Ti! Memory will still be GDDR5X and still 12GB, but at 12GBps this time instead of 10GBps. Further the Ti has a fully enabled GP102 chip using all of the 3840 CUDA cores. Price will be $1500 for the founders edition.

Lies Dice!

1080Ti will be released, blow competition out of the water in the reviews and you will follow suit and upgrade to the 1080Ti! You Knows It! ;)

And then 6 months later the 1080ti Black will come out giving him another kick in the nuts :D

I think AdoredTV summed it up best. Wait for Volta now, then jump in at the beginning and you could get about two years out of a card before it becomes completely yesterday's news.

Nvidia are squeezing out as many releases from Pascal as they can. See, I thought they would do it differently and slowly take their time now. Why would you speed along like a nutter when you have the fastest card? why not just keep making and selling 1080s until you're sure you can't sell any more? Surely they are cheaper to make and the ridiculous prices being asked surely mean lots and lots more profit than making fat dies? Mind you, when you are charging double for the fat die I guess it makes sense.

But yeah man, I really expected Nvidia to sit back in a nice comfy chair, put their feet up and then link their fingers and place their hands behind their head and enjoy the lead.

But I guess they don't want to rest up, instead they will just keep on smashing out incremental GPUs taking advantage of people who have to have them and clearly have self control issues. I mean really, $1200 for a GPU? but hey, people will pay it (I guess, I chuffing wouldn't !).

AdoredTV also said that this Titan X (stupid bloody name, can see loads of people getting conned on Ebay :( ) will possibly not be the only Titan from Pascal. They're still holding back.

I mean greed is greed and all but IMO Pascal was just a bit of luck. They shrunk Maxwell and realised it could be clocked like crazy. But to then stagger it and break it up and get numerous releases out of it is just greed to a whole new level.

Nvidia is a company, not a person, they don't need to care about your feelings or tuck you in at night. If you genuinely think any company cares about you as a person and not just your wallet you are naive. You really need to stop making this a personal relationship because it's not.
As long as nvidia delivers on the GPU front i don't care one bit about their money making schemes and how the poor 1080 owners feel cheated for not having the latest and greatest GPU anymore after 6 months (it's almost like they bought a high end tech product and this is the norm), anyone with half a brain knows what they are in for when dropping large amounts of money on a new GPU.

I learned that the hard way many years ago. They are a corporate monster like a tank who just roll on crushing people as they go.
Did a bunch of nvidia employees come over and burn your house down to build a new factory or what happened? We are talking about GPUs here, no one gets crushed.

Nvidia will never make the bulk of their money with top end cards, because the vast majority of people won't spend $1200 or even $600 on a GPU. Pushing out top end cards is mainly for securing their reputation as the industry leader, which sells the lower end cards.
People who have self control issues need to take responsibility for their issues, that's not nvidia's job. They should be adults after all.

Greed is what drives this industry, greed is what drives humankind to be more than just animals. If you question everything any company claims and do your homework before buying anything you won't be cheated.

Unfortunately greed and innovation go hand in hand. I don't feel it's greed, it's just good business sense. I don't have to like it but understand innovation costs money, what would I be gaming on if there was no money to innovate? A yo yo?. I recently bought a evga 980ti FTW rather than a 1080. Priced at £400 it suited me. They're quite a bit less now I believe and bang for buck, a sub £400 980ti is the best for 1440p gaming imo. Take the evga step up program for instance, it isn't so great an offering either, a basic 1080 is offered rather than the FTW equivalent. That I suppose can be looked upon as greed. I see it as glass half full and they don't really even have to offer a step up at all!
Roll on the 1180, 1280's etc. I might not buy first editions but am so glad I have the choice if I so wish.
