I've heard of people having trouble upgrade the memory later, imo you'd be much better of buying now 2x8GB sticks (if you really need it) instead of adding more ram in the future. What do you use you rig for?

As mentioned above, just buy 2 x 4 GB sticks. You can get most 8 GB 1600Mhz kits for less than £50.

Just get some cheap 1600MHz modules with reasonable timings.

best off buying ram in pairs as even if you buy same brand same type of ram, compatibility is not guaranteed as not from same batch.

buy either 2x4Gb or 2x8Gb and never buy singular sticks (IMO) as matching them later is nigh on impossible and you're asking for trouble
