WC Loop temp sensors

Hello all

i just wanted to ask some advice on which areas of the loop are best to monitor coolant temps?

i dont want to restrict flow by having loads sensors but i would think one is reservoir and one as the water exits the final radiator in the loop maybe but as this will be my first loop i want to make sure i monitor the right parts of it so i dont damage anything.

just after some thoughts of good for placement

Shouldn't matter.

Water flows through your loop so fast, it will eventually normalise. For me, I have one sensor in GPU port after it exits cpu and gpu, and one after the radiators. Both are the same temps after 30mins.

My other sensor is for ambient temperature within the chassis.

I would not even bother with sensors as it is better to monitor the temps of CPUs and GPUs directly using the appropriate software.

If your GPU and CPU are running at 40c or 45c it really does not matter what the water temp is as it will be below those figures.

It all depends on whether you are controlling the fan speeds via the coolant temp.

It doesn't matter where you put the coolant probe. You only need one, anywhere will do so long as the coolant makes good contact with it. Like Warchild said, the coolant moves around pretty quick so it won't be hotter in one place than any other.

Yeah if you have a spare port in contact with the coolant that's a good place to put it. Or you can use a T fitting pretty much anywhere, but it will cost you two extra fittings.
