Hi every one hoping to get some help from the great people here right I will start

I'm looking to get a new board for my 2600k 1155 chip and I have been looking at a asus maximus v exstream edition but also I have been looking at the iv exstream edition but I can't make mind up BUT now I have also thinking downsizing size of the case to asus maximus v gen so please could some one help me pick as it is driving me nuts

I would like no which is best out of the 3. Is there much of a diffrence in the 3. Will one over clock more than the other
And I'm thinking of going down the sli side of thing maybe not to sure yet and the same thing on water cooling

At the moment I am using a h100i but might up grade

Please try and make since if this but it is very late here lol thanks a lot

Fast reply

What's the budget?
What do you currently have?
Any colour schemes in mind?

-Hi thanks for the fast reply I have a budget of about 300 but if it is a little more I might make it more lol

-I currently have a p8p67 pro rev1

-colour I would like to be red but I I'm not set on it yet

Hence why I said about the 3 in this post already thanks alot:lol:

You don't need to spend anywhere near £300 really.

Tbh, there's nothing wrong with your current motherboard and you won't realistically see any benefit in upgrading it whatsoever.

Can't even list 3 boards that would be suitable really.
Look at the Z77 mPower.
The maximus V Formula would be another choice as you say...

But you won't see any difference between the mPower and the MVF whatsoever in terms of performance, and tbh you aren't going to see any difference between those and your current motherboard anyway, due to processor limitations.

Your best bet would be saving your money for Haswell and replacing your motherboard and CPU then.

Thanks

Ok but I am going to buy a new bored as this one has just broken on me but that is why I was saying the ones in the top post as I am looking at them only as I don't want to have to upgrade again but I am also thinking of getting a ivy i7 but i was told I won't see a big diffrence between what I have so please help with what I have put

Asus boards

Asus maximus v exstream
Asus maximus v formula
Asus maximus iv exstream
Asus maximus iv formula
Asus maximus v gene z I think this is one ??????????

Thanks

I'd listen to James, dude. If you're really set on upgrading try to hold out for another few months so that you can move up to Haswell. Otherwise it's just going to be a large sum of money spent for no tangible benefits.

Edit:
As your board has broken, i'd just try and get a cheap replacement one to tide you over. MSI G45, perhaps? That is if you're thinking about upgrading to Ivy now - don't bother with that, wait for Haswell.

I have no idea what you're asking...
Which of those is better?

IV is obviously old tech so count those out.

Not really any point in getting the Maximus V extreme over the formula...

So Formula vs Gene...

If you want mATX, get the Gene
If you want ATX, get the formula...

It's that simple really.

Although again - it's a waste of money getting the formula. So IMO if you want ATX you should get the MSI mPower as it's just as good performance wise as the Formula, but a lot lot cheaper.

Mate you talking to me and I understand lol ok right so
I understand all that please may I ask why should I not buy exstream

And how much should I pay for a formula for secand hand ??
And also what over lock do u think I will get from it as I'm defo over clocking my system will I get the same as what I would get from exstream

You shouldn't buy the extreme because it gives no benefit over the formula, and it's more expensive (same argument for the mPower might I add)

I have no idea how much you should pay for a second hand board...
Quite simple though really....how much are you prepared to pay for a second hand board?
I can't answer that...

But you said you have a £300 budget, which the Formula comes under anyway - so I'm not too sure why you're thinking about second hand - especially as I've given you better options in order to save money anyway...

That u have and it has been great thanks for all your help James

So you say buy the msi mpower and also what's the diffrence the

Msi and formula other than price

Over all may I ask why and I am also going to save some money for the next set up

Also if I go for the newest gen asus bored will there be a diffrence in the oc between that and a formula thanks

ive got the MPower, GD65, Maximus V Formula, and IV GENE-Z and depending on
needs (seems red is the want) and GPU arrangement the extreme V is totally
un-necessary unless you are trip/quad SLI/CFX. if a standard dual SLI/CFX, the
formula meets your criteria.

with that said, as for performance between all of them there is little to no performance
edge between all of them.

for best performance to cost.. its the Z77a-GD65 need a plainer look then look
to the Z77a-MPower. money is no object the formula would be next. just got to
e-peen for brags, then the extreme is the ticket.

What do u mean by this
just got to

So I'd saying formula is best out of all of these

And a mother question I currently have a corsair 100i but I am thinking of going down the othe water cooling if u no what u mean but wanting no if I would see a difference in temps just on CPU I mean tho but I am thinking of water cooling gpu a some point

best for what? for being red, yes.
best for the money, MSI GD65
best for looks and money MSI MPower
best for bragging is the extreme

I'm not going for going for price I would like power lol
I think we confusing each other

I was asking between the gen v and formula will I see a giffrence in performance
And also in one if your quotes u said out of them formula is best ?
