VRM components may overheat and fail on EVGA GTX 1070 or 1080 GPUs with ACX coolers

Definitely an RMA then, I just tried my Classy at auto fan settings and the fan curve and ramp up is a long smooth line in Afterburner and not sudden full fan speed.

Yeah and you've seen the RPM graph; it goes up loads every few secs, it's doing my head in! Can hear it over the headphone sounds even. I'm just considering switching to the Strix, selling a boxed and factory sealed EVGA SC shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Yeah I'd say it's safer to go with a Strix even though this problem is only affecting a tiny amount of cards you don't want to go through it again.

This is how the fan curve should look, Mine is set to auto and I have WoW running, Not exactly the most demanding game but it can ramp up the heat when you have MSAA x 8, HBAO+ etc... all at max.

Nice straight smooth line with no sudden ramp ups -

Yeah that looks better! If you look at my graph you'll notice that the fan speed is a straight line, whereas oddly the fan tachymeter isn't, however the latter is consistent with the sounds I'm hearing from the card.

Thanks for your help Dice and testing with your card! Ordered the Strix A8G and will be selling the factory sealed replacement. Owls FTW!

Lol, how so?... If it were ASUS, it would stop you?.

Think about it dude

The other big companies (cough ASUS cough, cough MSI cough) EVGA has the best RMA service, At least EVGA is fixing the issue.

Not like some other companies they would just bury their heads in the sand and act like it never happen

Yeah I found out how terrible their RMA is when my Swift was faulty, Quite a number of times.

Yes they did collect the faulty monitor which was great but they delivered 1 that stank of smoke, 1 that had actual dirt on the screen and stand, 1 that has the ribbon cable hanging out of it for the stands LED light, 1 that was flickering like a rave club, 1 that had a mass of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen.

Not a good experience.

ASUS RMA service is god awful, I'm not looking forward if i have to RMA anything with ASUS. from what i have heard is with ASUS RMA is that they do't want people to RMA products or they just don't care, God don't get me started on MSI either one of the worst companies around.

Also that is why i have said the Swift is not a good monitor the X34 is miles in front and the X34 is cheaper people have only said the swift is good cause it being "ASUS" and nothing else

Asus is surprisingly enough one of the better ones in AUS, at least as far as I have dealt with them. EVGA isnt very good in AUS, far from bad, but nowhere near as good as in the US etc.

Might I ask what happened to you?

Back when i was using the MSI motherboard when i was having issues (apart from the GTX970 from MSI which i wasn't really happy with either)

I just felt like MSI just didn't want to know about it, So i said basically FU to MSI as said i'm never going to buy another MSI product ever again and since then they haven't even brought anything out that i'm remotely interested in all stupid design.

Fortunately for me there's a shop in between Asus and me so I'll be dealing with them if I had to send something back - unless they send it back to Asus (for an absurd approximate 4-6 weeks time frame).

EVGA's customer service are 2nd to none, they are superb.

Think about it dude

I haven't had any experience with any, so can't comment on it. But what makes EVGA customer support so good then?.

And I personally like ASUS designs more, and that is something that is important to me, since I'm going to see the components inside my PC, I don't want it to look bad.
And so far, unfortunately all EVGA GPUs haven't been up to par, design wise, in my eyes.

Although, I can agree regarding the Swift... Poor quality for the insane price.

And King, do you have the Acer Predator X34 or which X34 are you referring to?...

Yes i'm talking about the Acer Predator X34.

I feel EVGA cares more about their customers more than other companies who sell GPU's & Motherboards, To me as i have said every new motherboard as come out they don't look that good to me and i feel that the only motherboard that will work for me is the EVGA motherboard cause it's a matt grey & just with a hint of red which you can easy change.

I'm sorry but to me ASUS is trying to turn into MSI with the tacky LED's and some of the designs too, which is why i'm not going to be buying another ASUS motherboard not until they drop the tacky LED's.

Visuals are very much a personal choice. I like the Predator x34 better than the Asus because of the stand. I don't go much on the new 1080 EVGA cards and I love the Strix. Some people hate dragons - I don't mind them and RGB has a lot of merit if the base card or board is plain stealthy black or grey.

Everyone thinks Godlike is a stupid name.

EVGA boards look pretty bland IMHO but it's just that. Just my opinion.

RMA and customer support are great reasons to recommend a brand. I had corsair gear that just broke and it was fixed (well replaced) free and quickly and I didn't even have to pay for postage to Hong Kong which saved a fortune. The downside was you send it back to the manufacturer. If you buy retail and it's DOA or dies soon after the retailer should replace it and follow it up themselves to write it off the books or get a credit from the supplier.

Props to EVGA on this one because ultimately the cards components are operating within spec and the company is still doing everything they can to help out concerned owners. Nice work.

One would have thought that they would have tested it more thoroughl instead of just making sure it was barely in spec.

It was 3-4% of cards that were affected, It's a minor oversight that EVGA are actively correcting but as usual the internet has made it into a witch hunt and made it seem bigger than it actually is ^_^

True Dicey, but Kushiro's point is still valid. They could've tested it better and therefore none of this would never have happened in the first place.

3-4% is a tiny number, Same could be said of Asus though, The amount of monitors they've sent out that have been faulty is huge.

And that 3-4% shouldn't be mad about it? Because it's only a tiny sample? No. They have every right. Spending that much money and having cards catch on fire and possibly ruining other hardware is ridiculous no mature amount of people affected. And yes this did happen. It's on there forums after all.
