Vista 3dmark performance - strange going's on

For ages now ive been wrestling with vista to try and get it to work better with my rig. (usually ending up in the reinstall of good old XP). Because of crysis however, i decided to try again.

This time, the second run of 3dmark was virtually the same as my XP mark. Which was great!

But it seems i cant get this mark again - its gone back to its "old slow ways" (e.g. 71FPS down to 63/64) - which is depressing me *again*.

However, ive stumbled across a way that seems to help, strangely. If i set the affinity of my Q6600 to just cores 1, 2, 3 (rather than 0,1,2,3), it raises the FPS to about 69FPS. (using demo 1 start as comparision btw).

Anyone know why its acting so strangly? - id love to get it working properly!
