The refresh rate really isn't much a property of the panel, but mostly of the controller and data cable powering it.

By and large we are currently limited in refresh rates by data cables, but also, most companies buying mediatek processors for their monitors won't be able to reach higher refresh rates, while LG and Samsung are already very used to designing their own chips for their TVs and they have the resources to tackle this, they could relatively easily achieve this, as long as they feel there's money to be earned there.

The issue I see is, you'd need too powerful a chip to drive anything significantly higher than 500hz, plus, there really isn't a cable capable of delivering such high framerates at meaningful resolutions, and finally, there really isn't much hardware capable of driving games over 500hz already, much less 800 or 1000, so I honestly don't blame them for not having done that already, it's too risky a market to try and tackle, especially since it would be way more expensive than current solutions. Also, it could require too much power and make it so that they would need active cooling which is something already known that the market in general rejects and everyone tries to find alternatives that don't have fans to buy, as was seen with the G-Sync module, and also some newer OLED monitors that had fans and people were indeed avoiding them even though they reached higher brightness than the competition.
