VIA plans their x86 comeback with AMD in their sights for 2019

Whatever they make will likely be much more Android than Windows IMO. I mean small, cheap, low powered things. But hey, I'm always up for a nice surprise :)

AMD made one hell of a comeback with Ryzen and Threadripper, so if VIA are watching carefully they could see an opportunity.
Competition would be welcome, even if it isn't in consumer products yet.

Via don't have the money of AMD, let alone Intel. It will be a super budget chip.

They stated they want to compete with AMD but will not be on par for 2years. Roadmap does not state improvements really so its a bold statement.

i remember my good ol' Cyrix 166mhz

From what I see on that roadmap there is a mention of 4. I hope they don't mean cores :D

They may compete with AMD but they won't compete with Keller. And that's the big kicker for me. He is the best in the business and they haven't hired him..

Dunno man, but I just don't see it. I'd love to see those days come back though. Even though Cyrix, Via and early AMD CPUs were poo they were damn cheap.
