some chips get there at lower some at higher its what we call the silicon lotto. But as always I suggest trying to lower the vcore til its unstable. Also do you have any of the voltage levels set??? like in my bios its called multi step load line it ranges from disables to levels 1-10 I found 10 is like telling Scotty you need MOAR POWER and he's tellin ya I'm givin ya all shes got captn and lvl 5 or 6 is best bang for buck

Im confused their is nothing in the slightest crazy about this i think ttl benched his @ 1.6v so 1.5 is nothing

Yeah, I saw this yesterday I didn't quite get it...I mean we've all seen more extreme overclocks.
Still, if you like to be on the cautious side like me (for the most part) then running 1.5 every day might make you a little nervous.
I hit 5.0ghz at around 1.45 something, which was a little higher than I was comfortable with, plus my cooler couldn't really cope with such high vCore.
Now I run at 4.6ghz which has proven to be a nice balance, these chips are so very good anyway that even at stock it eats everything I give it...it's just nice to be running with the extra "free" performance though
Congrats on your 5ghz OC - if, like me, you've come from a first gen Core 2 (Q6600) then 5.0ghz does indeed seem crazy!

Yeah, I get you mate. Did 5ghz myself but it was running a little too hot for my liking - once I'm on bespoke water I'll likely give it another go, though for the moment 4.6 is more than I need

I'd heard that voltage above 1.38V could damage the SB processors, although that was from everyone's least favourite retailer (something to do with those who overclock, in the UK), so I don't know that for sure. I got an easy 4.6GHz from my girlfriend's 2600k, but couldn't get any higher without much higher volts.
Ultimately, it's normally the heat that kills CPUs, so with good cooling most people will be fine.

It might be running fine now but don't expect it to last long running those volts constantly. Intel recommends 1.38v maximum for a reason

intel recommends 1,52 volts for maximum

1.4 for 24/7 max and safe. ^^^^1.52 can kill a cpu if left
no intel says 1,52 is ok for sandy bridge and well i run it at 1,5 volts since january without problems
