vcore fluctuation

Now I thought that this was normal....but my vcore seems to fluctuate between 1.64v and 1.74v.

I have set it to 1.55 and 113% in the BIOS and this should get to 1.74 or something so why the hell does this fluctuate so much?

This is in smart gtuardian BTW.

In CPU-Z i get 1.64v to 1.72v

Now I assuems that the CPU asks for more voltage as it needs it but I dont think that's right.....maybe its the fan asking for more voltage? I dunno but it don't seem roight to moi!! :(

That's pretty wierd, go by the bios. I never trust those program readings. My 12V rail reads 11.48 and 11.98 in a couple programs when it's really over 12V. You can find the real voltage from a voltmeter, but I don't know how you'd find vcore that way. If the vcore readings in bios are fluctuating, there my be a problem, probably psu or motherboard.

Checked it in the BIOS and its @ 1.55 and 110% and it just flick occasionally from 1.72 to 1.73v....so no worries then! :)

Should be good then. With vcore, I usually get correct readings in core center and cpu-z. I'd check some other programs for readings. It's possible windows is fucking up shit changing crap. When I used to have quickclean, the registry cleaner would fuck up shit and keep my settings at stock. I'd run a stability test just to be sure.

Well its stable under both Prim95 and S&M so its a little weird. Windows sucks serious ass....hope its not interfering with the BIOS ssettings!

Well I'd be worried if I saw my vcore oscillating between 1.4 and 1.6 volts. The occasional 1.5 flicker to 1.49 is normal cause of cpu load adjustments.

None of my computers have ever fluctuated beyond .02V with every program I've used and bios. If my vcore was riding between 1.45 and 1.55 volts, there'd be instability and failure in tests since my cpu can't even boot right at 1.45V.

Note: he corrected himself. The oscillation is a factor of .01 which is indeed normal (meaning you are right -- .1 fluctuations are not so normal).

Point being: he's okay.

Well I'm sure this PSU I have is stable as hell and it only fluctuates very slightly in the BIOS...so all good..

Close as necessary XMS!! ;)
