Using a TV as a computer monitor?

I'm after a new gaming machine, what do you guys think about using a 32" HiDef LCD TV will the quality of graphics etc. be as good as using a proper LCD PC monitor? I know that resolution can be an issue which will obviously affect the quality of the graphics but i've heard it mentioned that you can fit adapters... is that correct?

If the answer is yes then what features do I need to look out for?

Cheers guys and girls

But of course it's good! :D I've used my 32" LCD-TV as a PC-monitor for about 3 years or so, and planning on buying a 52" in a while. When buying a LCD-TV, find one with at least 2x HDMI, high contrast at least 10.000:1 and 500cd/m2 or above. Or just play it safe and go for whatever features a Samsung-panel.

Totally possible, very viable these days. DVI->HDMI gives you your digital picture. The resolutions will make themselves available to your pc`s settings the same way you would look to change the resolution using a regular monitor.

For me it`s good. But the tech isn`t quite there for it to be a better picture than the Dell 20/24" variants. I have a 32" Samsung above a Dell 20" and a media pc connected to both, the picture always looks better on the Dell. Not just quality but colors.

In work, in the intake rooms, the Dell 24" and apple cinema screens are used as a main pc screen and the-best-of-possible-there-is Sony screens are used to see what tx is like, and the Dell and apple cinema look better.

The resolutions on the monitors are generally higher, and the colours are generally better, i have used both and i got a nicer quality picture from the monitor.. However for the ease of use as both a tv and a monitor is pretty useful. Especially if it has two ports, all you have to do is change channel.
